The diameter of the walking stick is app.2 centimetres and the total diameter including rubber pad on bottom is4 centimetres. Hope this helps.I like the fact you get a proper clip to stop this stick springing open when folded.

what is the length of the handle grip i.e. is is wide enough for a hand 9.5 cm across the knuckles?

I think the basic answer is yes. The handle is 13cm long measured along the top. The longer section is 7cm with three finger indents. The front section is approx 4cm. The normal grip is with three fingers behind the stick and first finger and thumb in front. I think this is fairly universal with any tee headed stick. Have 2, one for inside and one for outside.
