Seven Mortal Sins: The Complete Series [Blu-ray]

The art is often a step above, with many character details and locales. It's an imaginative trip, full of references and interpretations. And fan service is there, highlighted by some extreme camera angles, but only light actual sexual acts. Lucifer takes on the sins, battling on their terms. I like the female casting of everyone, and their anime tropes are good assignments. One might expect skulls and death to feature prominently in the subject matter, but that isn't the case. The animation is colorful and creative, and from the first episode it sets a solid vision and tone. Interestingly, the only time the creativity reigns itself in is when it depicts real world locations. It's a good contrast that hit me hard during the music battle, which was building up to be an episode I would hate (not a fan of rap), but I actually got chills in the video destruction of Tokyo. Very well done. Very metal. Weirdly, music begins to fill the episodes from this episode forward. The anime has obviously gotten a lot of polish, moving well from episode to episode, confrontation to confrontation. It reveals background and backstories well too, painting its own interpretations of heaven and hell. Because it's very current, it's a nice connection to contemporary touches like the Internet and the military. It's interesting seeing the human followers, technology and hobbies. So it flows easily from the fantastic to the mundane. The lavish treatment is undeniably good. 5 stars? It hits classic vibe for me because while the characters are awesome right from the start, they still develop. It doesn't stoop to melodrama, and has good punchy points. The end is a bit backstory heavy, but the multiple ends are good. Through events, choices, revelations, the characters develop or, in the case of Lucifer, developed to a satisfying arc. Refreshing take, though it doesn't feel epic enough with regard to the final end, it definitely makes me look forward to a rewatch and a sequel. The series has room to grow, and I hope it does. Recommended.

Short but fun
I'm not much of a reviewer. But I liked this Anime. It is fun, requires no deep thought. Great art, good simple story and a good watch. Unlike other anime, I won't explore it's background or buy the books. But if you're looking for a fun watch for a little money, I think it is worth it.An aside, how I view things as far as entertainment; I can go to a movie, spend 25+ USD for an hour to two hours of entertainment.Or I can buy an Anime and get 3+ hours of entertainment for the same price in which I can binge, pause, or do whatever I wish.I personally think this anime is worth buying. Simple, fun and worth watching. Ends in a semi-cliffhanger so I doubt we'll know the true end. But I was entertained. As a second aside, I do wish they'd create a second season. But I suspect they never will.Take care.

Surprisingly enjoyable!
Seven Mortal Sins is an action comedy Ecchi series about the fallen angel Lucifer as she tries to take over hell by defeating all of the mortal sins. My husband and I watch a lot of Ecchi series and we had our eyes on this one for a while, waiting to watch it on Blu-ray so we could see it uncensored. Ecchi can range from jokes with a lot of bouncing boobs and panty shots to borderline H..(you know)..and this one is DEFINITELY borderline H. If there’s one thing I can say about this series is that it was surprising. I was surprised by how far the sex scenes went, I was surprised by how often the show made us laugh, and I was surprised by how the “fights” all played out. Only lust and Satan’s episodes went about how I expected, the rest were more interesting scenarios related to the sins like singing contests, playing video games, and recovering from overeating in a hospital together. Most of all I was surprised that after all the (very fun) nonsense and the last few episodes rolled around I was surprised by how much I cared about the plot and the main characters, particularly Lucifer and Maria. Considering how poorly the show was rated on most anime cataloguing and rating sites I didn’t expect to like it so much. The only real complaint I have is that some of the English voices are a little weird, though I did get used to all of them-if not come to like them-after a few episodes. The other complaint is regard to this actual set rather than the series itself. It’s always annoying when OVA’s aren’t included in “complete” series.

While the animation is well done the story is a bit hollow
