Original Recycled Tarp Hat, Handcrafted in Brazil

This is an AWESOME hat! Five stars is not enough! Fits great and looks even better in a rugged rustic way. I like hats but seem to just collect them and never wear them. However, this is the first hat I have ever worn ALL day working around the house and yard in the hot Georgia sun ; keeps you pretty cool for a hat. It is so comfortable you forget it's on. My wife (who rarely wears hats) asked me to get her one...she has never done that before. The hat looks great on her too. So convinced is my family, I had to get one for my daughter! However the hat my wife received was a little too rustic with several large patches that we will return and exchange it for another; each one is unique and you don't know exactly what you will get. Comes shipped flat but shapes up very well to what you want with wire brim and wire in crown.FYI I have a 21 1/2 inches head and ordered the small and it fits just right with enough tightness it won't blow off. My wife's medium also fit me but was barely different from my small; just a tad looser. My daughter's small was actually just a tad small for me but still okay. So, size of a small is right at 21 1/2 inches which is a hat size 6 7/8. I retired from the Army and usually wore a size 7 and sometimes a 6 7/8 (but did not like wearing them all the time for 30-years). FINALLY found a cool hat to actually wear and enjoy it.I wouldn't be surprised if I went and purchased a second one. Hope this helps. Dr Russ

It is exactly as advertised on the REAL DEAL BRAZIL website; both the good and the bad. I got lucky with the fit- a medium hat happened to exactly fit my medium head. I was worried about that since others have complained about sizing problems. I probably would not have bought it without the free return shipping, because of that issue. The hat looks cool! I feel like I should invent a story to go with it...something about crocodiles or smuggling diamonds would work. The hat will absorb sweat IMMEDIATELY and instantly get soaking wet around the crown. It's not the hat to wear into one of the finer restaruants on a hot day because of the sweating issue, but once it dries out, it looks fine. Like I thought, my wife hates it, but that's OK with me...she'll change her opinion when she sees the gems I smuggled in from Bolivia...."W".

I bought this and the matching shoulder bag on a whim.So, I really thought I'd be akin to Crocodile Dundee with this hat. I've already been working on my accent so I just needed the hat and an intimidating knife. G'day, mate! That's not a knife...Anyway, there is a wire in the rim of the hat, and mine came a little... mangled. So the front brim sticks up in the air making me look a bit unintimidating, or as my wife put it, "silly." That, and the amount of patches on my hat - five - seem like it should have been maybe thrown back into the factory reject pile. These aren't small patches; they are fairly obvious and perhaps even overtly done (a huge patch for a small hole or tear).Right now I have the hat in lock-down mode; weights are placed across the brim to get the wire to flatten out. I plan to shape it just like the picture you see above. Also, my head is 21.5" inches across, and the "medium" size is a little snug. I hope it stretches with use.So, 4/5 stars because it is unique, recycled, and I do like it. I figure it'll reshape eventually and fit better as well. But the amount of 5 patches is a detractor - I guess I expected less. Now about that knife...

I saw this hat a few months ago on a trip to Mt. Dora, Florida. There was something about it that I really liked, maybe the individuality. Anyway, I passed on purchasing at that time but ended up getting online for the same price. It's a perfect hat for being outside in the sun and just hanging out. I wore it to a recent birthday bash at Epcot and it was perfect. It rained on us and the hat got completely soaked. By morning, it was dry and ready to go again. I wore it the next day at Disney springs and still loved it. If it ever gets destroyed, I'd buy again for sure.

I bought my first Real Deal Brazil hat several years ago and loved it. Unfortunately, I lost it and had to buy another. The new one feels so much more cheaply made, it's thinner and not as well constructed... but hey, at least it cost more. Don't be scammed, this is not the real deal hat that was originally sold... they do a cheap knock off now to save money.

I already own one of these hats but when my 14 year old grandson came to visit and saw my hat he absolutely loved it so, I bought him one.These are great hats for anything (except maybe formal dress but even that is subject to individual preference nowadays). They are a little pricey but they last forever. I wear mine for working in the sun, at the beach and casual wear and get a lot of compliments on it. I couldn't have bought my grandson anything better. He loves this hat. I love mine also. Every hat is different and unique.

I'm not really a hat person, I bought this for a costume. But it is so light and comfortable that I've actually worn it a few times. The material is very light-weight so it almost feels like you're not wearing a hat. It has variations in the color that make it look like you've already had it a long time, so you don't have to worry about losing the newness (it looks like you've already had some adventures together).

These hats are always hard to figure out size wise. I love their construction, but the QA doesn’t seem to be up to par. I’ve ordered two but the one that fits my head isn’t deep enough. The one that is too big fits perfectly depth wise.
