Not bed for the money.
Not bad for the money. Easy to read you can switch from Celsius to Fahrenheit easily. It seems accurate, but takes a little time to get up to the correct temperature. I might have to pay a little more to get an instant read.

Easy to read, but does take some time to reach a high temperature. Still preferred over analog (red needle) type of thermometer
Positives:[+] It's digital! I had an analog (red needle dial) previously that finally broke. I prefer digital now that I know how easy it is[+] Very easy to read. No guessingNegatives:[-] It can take up to 1-2 minutes for the temperature to stop climbing, as long as a traditional analog thermometer would take[-] Other thermometers have a storage plastic sleeve or fold-in tip to safely store this in a drawer. In this case, I re-used my analog storage sleeve for this.

Not really fast
I did not find the thermometer to read the temp very quickly and my hand got hot holding it long enough to tell while the meat was still on the grill. It was not worth returning, I purchased a really fast reading thermometer to solve this problem. It does what they say, but not very quickly.

Works well. A bit larger than I was expecting and no kind of sheath for the probe. So it just sits loose in my drawer.

You get what you pay for
This thing. I don't get it at all. I put it in whatever I want temperatured and it takes for ever. I sit there, watching it climb the scale, getting warmer and warmer. Then it'll stop after awhile, way too long of a while. And I'll watch it for a bit more because I don't trust it. And then guess what, I still don't trust it. But hey, it's pretty cheap.

This thermometer takes about 30 seconds to register the temperature so it is definitely not instant.

Not instant read
The thermometer is in no way instant, I think it's even slower than a digital fever thermometer. It took about a minute to determine the temperature of the custard which I was supposed to cook to 160°F. To me, instant means *instant* so this thermometer is useless for my purposes. I think it's falsely advertised, and hadn't I already thrown away the packaging, I'd return it.

Great digital thermometer for a wide range of temperatures
I'm using this in a converted Presto PopLite popcorn popper that I now use for coffee roasting. The temperature range and build quality of this device are just what I needed!! It is a bit slower in response than our other, similar device, but I think that is due to the sturdier probe.
