Miracle-Gro EverGreen Shady Lawn Seed 420 g - 14 m2

Really good. Got it to use under trampoline but then decided to use it on the whole garden and works well! Take a little longer to grow in shady areas but when it does start growing its grows quickly!

After reading the reviews, I was not expecting the seeds to germinate quickly but they did! I was pleasantly surprised to see some short green grass in less than 2weeks! I suppose the rainy weather in October helped a lot and maybe the top soil we used was good too (used Verve peat free top soil). Look forward to seeing a green thick lawn in the very near future. My only negative comment is that not all seeds germinated, so there are some bald patches...

Great Seed

I've used grass seed before with great success, but there's a few patches that are in the shade of big trees that are always sparse so I bought this hoping it'd fill those. Firstly, it's not coated, so half of the seeds were lost to the birds feasting on like a buffet. As the box is large I used it to overseed the total lawn, assuming what I'd put in the shaded areas would be more than enough. In the past when I've used grass seed it's sprouted up quickly and noticeably within a week or two. What has grown is is a very fine, slow growing but very green grass, but it took a good few weeks to start appearing, but it hasn't grown in the shaded areas at all, so it was kind of a waste of money. Part of me wonders if it was user error but I have grown the rest of my lawn from seed successfully, so I don't know.

If you order this and get batch number DK25DT3586 sealing date 06/2025 either send it back or bin it as you will wait weeks for seed to germinate and then have to start again with seed that is alive. I used half the box on my lawn and after 2 weeks nothing. So I tried to pre-germinate the other half leaving it soaking in a tub changing the water everyday. Not one single seed germinated after nearly 3 weeks. I went to the local large chain diy store and picked up a box of their shady seed for half the price and 1 week later they have germinated and grass coming through. Very frustrating buying a branded product as you think it will be better and losing valuable growing time in spring, it has set me back weeks.

Worked somewhat. Difficult garden but used these with a mix of several other seeds and had a great result after years of trying different seeds.

Had a shady corner by a hedge and under my apple tree that was very mossy raked out the moss and spread the grass seed around and now it’s grown it’s nice and grassy 🤓
