To do half up dos I used a small rubber band first to make sure i could place the hair slide. And low ponytail had to use a hairtie first cuz it won’t hold All my hair. I also used just the pin for a half up bun which worked great. Over all I’m pleased with this purchase. (Please ignore my creaked mirror and coffee pjs. I couldn’t wait to try out some hairstyles) ### ⭐⭐ Incredibly heavy and uncomfortable. For decoration only. *by W***W on Reviewed in the United States on May 9, 2020* There is not a lot of space for your hair, and would really only work as a decoration for your hair above an elastic ponytail holder. It is terribly heavy also, and there is no "give" to it, as it is metal. I would like to recommend a leather barette in the same type - slide hairpins - if you are looking for something more comfortable and practical. This metal one is just too heavy. Decoration is nice, but since I cannot wear it, it is being returned. ### ⭐ Useless, painful and ineligible for returns *by G***T on Reviewed in the United States on January 27, 2019* It can only hold a tiny amount of hair. I have fine hair, and this is not able to secure a half-ponytail. Also, the curls in the design always catch and pull on my hair. I tried using it several different ways, and even when taking it out immediately after brushing/pinning the hair it was very painful to take off. And even though it was an Amazon prime purchase, I can't return it - which I've never seen happen.
