Well Rounded... with a few shortfalls
First off, this is one of the best aftermarket double dins out there. Its features, performance, design, simplicity, build quality, and interface for the price easily runs laps most name brand units out there such as the Pioneer NEX or Alpine ILX series. That said, this unit does have its shortcomings with itself that shows it was rushed to the market. As a concerned fan, I emplor Clarion to remedy these issues via a software fix (if doable) to ensure there is no doubt that it is the best double din out in the market. I hope Clarion will address The following:Tuner: why the lack of rds tag display? Its 2015 and my 2004 factory radio has it. There is so much unused real estate on screen in this mode that I am sure it wouldnt hurt to add this feature. In addtion, being able to label presets would be convienent.Voice command (bluetooth): I think simply pressing (rather than holdong) the voice button should suffice for triggering hands free calling ir command. Holdong the button leads to inconsitant performance with apple iphones as the command does not always translate to the IphoneHands free calling: the person on the otherend sounds muffled because all sound is coming out of a single speaker. why is sound output to one side only? Rather than left and right, should have option of distributing sound to both sides speakers.Extra features: there should be an option to disable or remove unused modes from the menu such as aux 2 or reverse camera. Again they take up real estate and possibly performance as the operating system allocates resources in the event they are to be used (if at all)Performance: can be laggy or take a while to react to commands or button presses. This could be related to the numerous unused features running in the backgrou d as mentioned above.Navigation: why does it regularly have to load the map on startup or using it after a while? Sometimes this loading takes priority over all else. So I have to wait until the maps are loading before I can resume use other features of the radio. Perhaps you can limit gps data to speed up load times. For example, I do not need a map of all of the US if I spend 99% of my life driving in California. Also, real time traffic would be a plus!Customization: ability to change background or theme of each mode. The default blood red th er background can be an eye sore. Prefer to have some optionsSoftware updates: update only via microsd card? Seriously? 2015 and you guys have a USB output which is more common... Had to buy a micro sdcard seperately just to do the first update

Great features for the price
I've had the Clarion NX405 for about a week, so there are a few things I'm still trying to work out, so I may update this review after I've played with it a bit longer.Things I like:The GPS is accurate and works well (sometimes too well, see below). The mirroring on my iPhone via HDMI works great! Watching Netflix while waiting in your car for someone makes waiting a delight. The touch screen is responsive and works well. The menus when playing audio from my iPhone are laid out well, though a physical button that you could hold down to scroll with would be nice as opposed to having to press an arrow key on the screen over and over. With the addition of an adapter the steering wheel controls on my Jeep Wrangler work well, though they could stand to respond quicker. The cheap $10 CCD backup camera works great with this unit. I also installed a micro bypass so I can see the rear view camera while I'm driving should I wish.Things I do not like:The voice command via Siri leaves a lot to be desired. I've yet to get it to read my commands properly. It hears me, it just thinks I'm saying something different. The GPS is a little too good. It keeps interrupting my music to tell me where I am every 5 feet. Perhaps that can be adjusted in the settings, I don't know, I still need to play with it some. So far I cannot hear callers when they call. They can hear me, but I cat hear them. I'm sure it's something in the settings, I just haven't had the time to figure it out. The sound is limited. If you're an audiophile this isn't the deck for you, but you know that already. The pre-outs are only 2v and the EQ settings are limited. However, it was still an improvement over the stock unit that came in my Jeep. I'm sure after I add some better speakers it will improve even more. Lastly, I haven't figured out how to adjust the tiles on the home menus. The iPod audio tile, which I use the most, is on menu two. I want to move it to menu one, but haven't been able to so far. The instructions indicate that you can, I just can't figure it out?All in all, for the price I paid ($350 after $100 rebate) I am satisfied. Are there things I wish were different? Sure, but I'm not willing to pay $200-$300 more for those features. Hopefully I can figure out the bugs I'm having and then I'll like it even more.
