I took a new job at a District that uses Google Drive. I came up to speed quickly thanks to this book. I see the the new drive has changed a great deal. Looks like the Author will be busy writing another book. :)

Very Helpful
I just got a new position that requires record keeping. Having used Google Docs in the past, I decided to update my knowledge. I googled "Docs for dummies" and this was one of the results. I liked the concept that the title implies - a concise guide that will distill what I need and allow me to complete a task quickly (even if it takes longer than 30 minutes). I found it very easy to follow, and have since created forms for my record keeping that the people I have to send them to have told me are easy to use. They also greatly simplify my record keeping responsibilities. The book helped me do what I needed it for, so I'm very happy with it. I'm glad I chose it over the "dummy" series, books that I have found to have varying degrees of intuitiveness in the past.

Google Drive & Docs in 30 minutes
Rather disappointed. First of all, the illustrations are tiny even on pages that have ample space for larger, easily visible photos. Thus the reader has to concentrate on trying to see what is shown on the page instead of focusing to understand how to implement a specific task.. The explanations are somewhat helpful but not that helpful. The author apparently was focused on getting the job done in 30 minutes but not on the main task of giving short, concise explanations about the issues involved One suggestion: on some of the more involved tasks, actual examples could enhance the learning experience.

A great treatment of how to use Google features
Very basic stuff to get you started in Google Drive. Pretty fundamental. A very fast read, but more than 30 minutes.

Google Drive & Docs in 30 Minutes
Paid 10 bucks for this book because I am particularly interested in Google Drive featuresfor storage and access from multiple devices of non-Google formats, such as PDF, Word, Excel, txt, jpg etc. (not Docs, Sheets, Slides...).This book has a total of 8 pages on "Storage and Offline Access" and only a few sentencesof those 8 pages refer to non-Google formats. Basically learned nothing and it cost me 10 bucks.Next I want to look at Dropbox, but I'm afraid to loose another 10 bucks on this author.

Still leaves questions
OK for a starter, but Google Drive and the associated 'Docs' applications still leave me dumb at times.I would like to know more about how the folder hierarchy works and how I can get shot of all the stuff I don't need to leave me with a clean, uncluttered and easy to use, cooperative working system. On the other hand Google Drive is free.

Easy Enlightenment
This was very useful trying to get to grips with the way Google Docs works. I wanted to get rid of all connections with Office and Open Office and I was struggling. And not sure what could be done online and offline. Now I know. Thanks

Reasonably complete coverage of the free package
Google Drive is a multi-platform, free mini-office suite from Google. It has versions for the PC, iPads and iPhones, and Chromebooks (it is a major component of the Chrome OS) and there is a client for Android which allows Google documents created on one device or computer and in its Google Drive folder to be viewed on any other compatible platform. Google offer little or no written instructions on its use and this book is one of a very few to fill that need. The component apps are undemanding, far less capable and complete than Microsoft Office and those such as LibreOffice or OpenOffice or any other similar package. However, for basic letter writing, inter-office reports, simple spreadsheets and presentations Google Docs will probably meet most people's normal needs. One thing that it can do that the more complex products cannot do quite as readily or at all is to allow group contributions. One person can edit another's work provided that they are members of the same network or have access to it via a provided link; instead of saving its files to a local hard drive, memory stick or some other device they are all in the Cloud. It will therefore allow remote contributions from many people, simultaneously or independently, to a magazine, book or other large publication. The book is a short one, barely more than 100 pages, is easy to read even for those with minimal computing knowledge and is sufficient to cover most of the offered functions in some depth. However, not all options within a function are covered but there is more than enough to get you started. Thanks to its brevity and easy writing style, it should satisfy most of the package's users.
