Yamaha 4C Soprano Saxophone Mouthpiece, Standard Series

This mouthpiece instantly was a definite improvement over stock. I can get an even tone across all registers. Price is affordable. Relatively easy to play. Nice!

For someone that is just getting back into playing my soprano sax, this is a great mouthpiece. You can’t beat the price and it’s got great response in all registers of my horn. I recently bought the 5C for my tenor and it is now my go to mouthpiece as well. Don’t be fooled be the inexpensive price. These are great.

As an intermediate player, I found this mouthpiece to be superior to the original L.A. Sax mouthpiece that came with the horn. It has a very clean and warm tone to it. My only complaint is that the mouthpiece bore is rather small. I would have expected this to be a pretty standard thing. I'm going to have to have my neck recorked with thinner cork or risk damaging the octave key attempting to remove it after playing.

The Yamaha 4C was invented about the same time Yamaha produced the YAS21 and related lines, around 50 years ago. It was designed to be easy to play for beginners, but also to produce a rich tone. At the time it outperformed all of the mouthpieces being used on their competitor's beginner horns. Some of the competition has caught up, but it's still a great place to start if, say, you're going from Alto to Soprano. Obviously, there are "pro" mouthpieces that will sound better once you've adapted to the instrument, but they cost a lot more, and you won't really know which "pro" mouthpiece you'll need when you're staring out on a new horn. So, very good for what it is. Hopefully it will work well enough for you to stick with the horn until you need a better mouthpiece.

Who knows... there had been a while when I struggled with not sounding sharp on my soprano saxophone and everyone blamed my mouth. Well guess what???? It was my mouth... but buying a better mouthpiece also helped haha. I have always been a fan of "master the instrument, not the product", but I decided to give this mouthpiece a try (since the one that came with my soprano was pretty bad) and it instantly improved my sound. It sounded more crisp and simply on point. I recommend this to all beginners/intermediates.

You can 't go wrong with this mouthpiece. You'll definitely get your money's worth. I got two of them. I also use this mouthpiece for my Alto Sax.

I brought this mouthpiece 4 1/2 years ago, I have other soprano mouthpieces but they don't flow as easy. I have a straight and a curve. This makes them both sound great. All ranges are easier to obtain with confidence. Vito straight and Lazarra curve I play with all types of musicians, they give thumbs up on the sound.

and although it somewhat has the sound of yamaha it doesn't perform well as the free original mouthpiece of a beginner saxphone

Nice mouth piece, bought it to replace the awful metal one that came with the sax. Seems great so far
