IF you enjoy COD and boots on the ground, then grab it
I have played every COD and purchased every COD with the exception of Black Ops 4. When i heard that BO4 did not have a story mode it kind of put me off and i didn't like the look of semi-futuristic weapons - so i gave it a miss. Modern Warfare - its great, i mean really great. I creamed the Beta up until the point of close and was so satisfied with game play, the sound affects, clatter of gunfire and overhead bullets (I had pre-ordered 2 months before anyway). it just all felt so right. Anyway - the game officially turned up (booked day off work) and i cracked on, solid 4 hours of story mode which as usual is short followed by multiplayer. i think i must of put in a good 20 hours over the opening weekend. Online is superb, yes there are some glitches and bugs but updates are being released quite constantly (3 over the weekend) to patch these. The activision cross play is wonderful, most of my pals are on xbox and a few on PC but the flow is great - every now and then you end up in some quantum realm which is clearly a bug that needs fixing and requires you to close the game and re-open (30 sec) and your back in - you're basically stuck in a lobby with 3 people from your team and you cant get out of it but i am sure it will be fixed. Ranking system - a new joy, effectively you don't 'enter prestige' but after level 55 you start back at level 1 (weapons and xp) and you start flying through the ranks again 56,57,58 ect, - nothing gets reset, all attachments and perks stay active and i believe it goes to rank 150. weapons, perks, customization - is pretty endless, loads of camos, reticles and challenges. the customization of your weapon is quite special with 4/5 available attachments for your weapon is fully yours to make. The maps are good, nice variety and if you go for the large scale ground war games - 20 v 20 your talking battlefield size maps - they are HUGE. great if you want to rack up some sniping kills. don't be put off by some of these other reviews. those saying 'online play if you spawn you die' ect - it takes a while to get used to new maps like every COD and unfortunately you will get these 'campers' that do sit in a corner but I like to think i'm quite shit hot so it doesn't really affect me that much. besides online, the story is another classic with razor sharp graphics and paints a dark picture of terrorism in modern times and with Price back in the drivers seat - you cant really say no!. all in all a great buy and if your sitting on the edge, i would definitely give it a go.

The best COD since the original Modern Warfare
I was so excited when I heard COD: Modern Warfare was back and boy is it back. Possibly one of the finest FPS games on the planet. The single player campaign was very enjoyable, but way too short IMO. Nevertheless, the game promises the story will continue in Special Ops mode, which it kinda does, but this is you working with up to three other players and requires a lot of team work as the difficulty on this is, pretty brutal and if you don’t fall in to a game where the guys are working together then you’re going to find it very hard going. The Multiplayer is good, there are also recently re-imagined maps of old favourites coming back into the multiplayer section from the original COD: MW, such as Crash, Shipment and Vacant. The beauty of these are they are instantly familiar, yet different at the same time. There are doors to open/close, some extended areas in crash for example, and everything has been given a make over - this game is visually stunning.

Great COD, albeit short
This is the first COD game I've played since Modern Warfare 2 on the Xbox 360. I haven't played the multiplayer, only the campaign/singleplayer. The campaign is very engaging, with loads of cool set pieces; pretty much a staple now of the Call of Duty franchise. The graphics are incredibly detailed and realistic with impressive lighting effects. Characters look lifelike, especially in the cinematics - at times, it felt like watching a Netflix drama. It also adds to the atmosphere (along with the music/sound effects). The storyline may be quite controversial for some, hitting quite home to contemporary events, although maybe that can be said for many COD titles. My only real criticism of the campaign is the length. It took me about 5/6 hours to complete on Normal difficulty. There are plenty of checkpoint saves throughout (maybe too many at times) so I never felt overly punished on death. Still, when the credits rolled, my first thought was, "Is that it?" I expected a bit more bang for my buck in this regard and was a bit disappointed when the credits rolled. I haven't tried the multiplayer yet but I imagine it's the standard COD experience that most will purchase the game for. Overall, a good game, I just hoped the campaign had a bit more to it.

A great return to form with minor drawbacks .
A great call of duty game , reviewed after several games of mulitplayer a few goes of campaign and also a few playthroughs of spec ops . Heres the deal we will start with campaign the return to greatness , It was too short in my opinion and really had me wanting more so thats a good thing , was over so quick i couldnt believe it , was old school call of duty memorable moments and characters with new features and old features clammed together to make a solid 8 out of 10 campaign experience . Multiplayer : Reviewed after about equal of 3 days in game of playtime , honestly this is the most ive played multiplayer in a long time i found myself bored of black ops 4 after a few games but this isnt that game so ill keep away from older titles , Im currently enjoying multiplayer with a few odd rage ingaging guns like 725 shotgun and etc the maps are also shallow and dont feel like they have a personality of their own , not like other mp maps in the past so i cant say i enjoy the maps but the guns are mostly great and the game has a solid flaw , im now level 100 in game and really having a blast . for mp id give a 7.5 out of 10 Spec ops : The sour part , in my honest opinion i hate this version of spec ops , its so shallow ,so dull and boring , and honestly way too hard with juggernaut after juggernaut and waves of enemies just unending you find yourself just wanting to not play the game , whilst this mostly operations mode in public lobbies the rest are all rehashed modes like survival and stuff like that which are fun but by no means really something youd spend hours on , Id give spec ops a solid 4 out 10 needs more work . Overall : id give an 8 out 10 a solid call of duty game pretty good for a franchise that was in my opinion dying off due to bad titles previously like advanced warfare , infinite warfare and black ops 4 which hurts to say but really was awful , the last honest time i enjoyed call of duty like this was a long time ago with modern warfare 1 and 2 and 3 and i did enjoy black ops 1 and 2 and 3 aswell , in reality the last one was black ops 3 which was 2015 i believe thats a long time ago in game terms although i tried every call of duty that released the others after black ops 3 were not worth mentioning , but the future looks maybe good for call of duty i cant be sure when next year we have a new one on a new system as in PS5 and Xbox Scarlett i cannot be sure how good this will be so will have to see.

CoD is back to its best
Call of Duty is back to it's best. This is the game many of us have been dying for, ever since the franchise started with all the futuristic rubbish (wall running, jet packs stupid futuristic guns, etc). Game play is good, as are the graphics and sound. Online player matching seems to be well thought out producing close games. More important, NO FUTURISTIC CRAP! Gun smith option provides endless variations of a particular weapon which means you can craft your weapon for your style of online gaming. Online maps are really well constructuced as you would expect from the franchise. There is a good spread of new and old maps and I can safely say that I don't have a map I hate. One other thing, they have finally got the excessive advantage sniper's had sorted. I have not seen any quick scoping which plagued early CoD versions so they seem to have sorted that. They have also added a reflection off the scope of snipers giving you a chance to spot them and try to avoid having your head removed! My only gripe is the near 3gb download you have to do before you can play the game I can see myself playing this for a long time to come.

1 star for the campaign, 0 stars for the rest
First up, I have played every COD game since 2007, including the original COD when it was released on PSN. This game this year is without a doubt THE WORST Call of Duty game ever released, the ONLY saving grace is the fantastic campaign, the best since COD Ghosts. Cod Ghosts is the comparable game here because that game was also horrific save for the excellent campaign. The multiplayer here is a campfest, no one wants to move, and there is no Dead Silence perk to try to counter it to run around them and flank them. Attempting that here will result in them soundwhoring your huge clomping feet as they stomp around the map attempting a poorly conceieved flanking attempt. The maps are a disaster, not ONLY because there’s only a HANDFUL of the classic 6v6 maps, all of which are poorly designed with long sight lines for campers. The majority of the maps are reserved for the larger game modes, and the colours of the maps look disgustingly washed out as does every map. They are bland, boring and depressing to look at and play. The ONLY hope is that Infinity Ward has much better 6v6 maps ready for release over time. Failing that just bring all the old maps back, then everyone is happy. As for Spec Ops, again, an abomination of a mode. Massive bland areas to run around, doing generic objectives very loosely tied to the campaign, vs hundreds and hundreds of enemies with their aimbots. You’ll often be attempted to be shot at through doors and walls because they can track where you are at all times basically. I tried doing the first Spec Ops map, I failed with randoms over and over, will not be playing it again or trying out the other maps for many months. If you buy this game, just do the campaign, then get a full refund, that’s all you need to do for this year. If you want to keep it, don’t buy it in the first place, just buy this game about 6 months from now so you can see what state it will be in by then. A disaster of a game.

Multiplayer is amazing!
I picked this up because I’ve given up on fifa which this year is an utter disgrace of a game. Luckily this Call of Duty seems to hit the mark. There is a large initial download of a huge update if you want to play online so be aware that that will take some time. Probably best to leave the PS4 on rest mode overnight for it to download. I started playing multiplayer at 6pm and didn’t stop until midnight - it’s that good. No lags at all, the gameplay is incredibly fun and well balanced, and at the moment I haven’t experienced any cases of one person easily dominating the game which frequently happened in previous CoD’s. The graphics look amazing too and the sounds are great. There’s a huge amount of weapons to choose from and in general it’s really easy to quickly hop into a multiplayer game and just enjoy it. I very much look forward to trying the campaign out.
