Big, pink, and effective.
After my old XP-pen Star05 finally died on me after many years, it was time to get a new drawing tablet. This new one is a nice and big tablet, runs smoothly, and the buttons are fantastic. The active drawing area alone is larger than the entire size of my old one. No complaints, I love it. Software is easy to set up and the pen pressure is decent. It's wired, so it does need to be plugged in, but the connection is fast and the chord is long. It's also just really cute. I'm so glad I found one in pink, and the price was great. The buttons are customizable which is great. The pen moves smoothly across it and even after taking the protective sheet off (because I was deforming it), there's no scratches on the surface. The replacement nibs fit into the pen holder. They come in a separate bag but you put them inside the pen holder in the little grooves. All you have to do to use it is plug it in and install the driver which you can find easily on the XP-pen website.

Perfect!!!
I. Love. This!!!!!!!!! I have been using the Deco 01 V2 for a long time now! (I bought it under this listing, but it seems to not be sold anymore?) It does everything I need it to do AND MORE!! Hardly any lag compaired to BOTH my old huion and wacom. 10x easier to setup as well, because all the drivers are easy to find/etc. The size of the drawing space/screen is honestly perfect for me + helps a lot since I take it to cafe's to draw, or college/etc! Love the design as well, and was very happy to have an option to make it feel more like paper! I REALLY fell in love with XP pen and will use them for years to come due to this experience :D!!

Way better than Wacom pro!!
I was a die-hard Wacom user for years. I professional retouched photography and the like. As a professional artist, I highly recommend this tablet. DO NOT waste your time or hard earned money with Wacom. XP pen has stepped up its game as a rival with this very tablet. The comfort, the drivers, the protective material, the ergonomics—everything is perfect! I’ve bought Wacom tablets recently, and returned them as the result of them falling apart the same day. Xp pen has proven itself and I am very impressed and will never go back again to any other brand. The affordability, quality, and professional structure wins.

Great for Linux, Maybe not for beginners
This is my first drawing tablet. In this review I hope to cover my "newbie" impressions, its Linux compatibility, and its general utility. First, my "newbie" impressions. Very soon after I received this device, I realized there are several things about it that aren't for me: 1) It too large. This was a surprise for me because I was convinced the size would be perfect, but for me as a beginner, I suspect that I would do better with one size smaller, and it would certainly sit better on my computer desk; 2) I very much dislike the upright pen holder. I realize now upon receiving it that I would much prefer to attach the pen to the side of the tablet. The upright holder isn't designed for being put in a desk drawer and having a separate piece is just annoying and amounts to clutter. Now, about Linux (2023, KDE, Debian): This tablet operated fully as a plug-and-play device, even before installing the manufacturer's drivers. I'm guessing that usability a side effect of Linux's WACOM support. What that plug-and-play support doesn't give you, though, is the detailed customization features that the tablet offers. For that you do need to install the manufacturer's Linux driver package. The manufacturer impressed me with the recency of its Linux driver support. I received the tablet on 2023-12-19; the model has been on the market for over four years, and the date of the driver package was 2023-10-23! There were drivers for multiple Linux distributions, and a detailed web page describing how to install them (standard, boring, nothing special). Once you install the drivers package, you do need to either reboot your system (what I did) or maybe just log out and back in. At that point, when you plug in the tablet, an icon is added to the system tray for the xp-pen configuration tool. Just beautiful - no hassle whatsoever. Finally, a few words about this tablet's general utility. Keeping in mind that I'm an absolute newbie: 1) It may be that the 'tilt' feature has been confusing me. I've shut the feature off, and I think the pen is operating better for me for now; 2) I really like how easy it is to change the tablet rotation using the configuration tool; 3) The pen works fine for drawing in programs such as Krita and KolourPaint, but because it's speed is calibrated for drawing it's slower than what you would want for a mouse, so it's annoying to use in order to move long screen distances quickly to press buttons and make selections from feature grids on the sides of canvases. What I've started doing is moving my mouse to my left side and using my left hand for the mouse so I don't need to put the pen down in order to quickly get fast mouse navigation. It would be nice to be able to program one of the pen buttons to increase the pen's distance-speed while pressed.

More versatile than it seems
I'm probably one of the few reviewers who got this to replace my pointing device. I suck at drawing, but I wanted to learn, and my mouse at work was bothering me, so I figured I would try this out. Surprisingly, it was basically plug and play with Linux, Fedora 30. I did NOT use it for anything art related at work, just as a pointing and clicking device. The Digimend drivers should work fine for it, just google for them, although configuring specific settings is more advanced, and required me to use the command line, and I'm unsure if there's a way to map the buttons. But for something that supposedly only works for windows and mac, it was great on linux. I have the protector on it in the picture, the keyboard is an Anne pro v2 60%, and the mouse is a Razer Mamba, so you can see the size comparison. Only changes I wish I could make would be allow me to switch between absolute mode and relative mode using the express keys; I think you have to go into the driver gui and click a radio button to pick the mode, but you're unable to bind it to a key. On Linux, I couldn't get the top button on the pen to register at all, so I had to create key binds to do middle click. Other than that, works great, the penholder is super convenient. I actually also ordered the XP-PEN gs640, the smaller one with no buttons, to use at work in relative mode, and that works great as well. This has pressure sensitivity and tilt functions that seem to work great in Krita. Definitely a worthwhile pick up if you're looking for an alternative input device or good quality, inexpensive drawing pad.

Incredibly picky and long time Wacom user. I'm impressed.
This tablet is thin, sleek, simple, and it performs. I'm a professional game artist who has used Intuos pro tablets for the past dozen years. I've never had issues with them, but always felt they were overpriced and oversized for how insanely long this tech has been around. Adjusting to a new office setup, I felt that my large intuos pro was taking up far too much space; most of it useless bezel. Despite all of the positive reviews, I was skeptical that I would be satisfied with the XP Pen Deco. But after using the new tablet for a few hours, it has exceeded my expectations. The design is clean and the quality is impressive. I lost a small amount of active space (the Deco is about 12" diag vs 15" on the intuos large) but the footprint is literally half the size of my intuos large in addition to being noticeably thinner. The shape of the pen is comfortable and familiar. Pressure sensitivity and response feel great. The surface has slightly more resistance than my Wacom, but is also very smooth and consistent; less drag and texture than other tablets I've tried. My ONLY gripe is regarding the rocker button on the pen. The placement is fine, but the upper portion is nearly flush with the body of the pen, which makes it difficult to press. Gluing a tiny piece of plastic to raise the button will be an easy fix, but it would be nice if I didn't need to. I'm a happy artist who just reclaimed some desk space. Frankly, I don't see myself shelling out $400+ on a Wacom ever again. This tablet seems high quality and performs just as well for a fraction of the price. Great job XP Pen. Now I just need to find someone who wants a used Wacom.

(Almost) too good to be true
I'm going to preface this by saying that I only got my XP-PEN Deco 01 v2 today, so, what I'm going to say is based on a total of around three hours of use so far. If my experience with the tablet or company changes in the coming months, I'll update the review, so, here goes. I use GIMP 2.10.22, and it's been my experience over the past decade I've been using GIMP, that it's usually either really fiddly to set up a tablet with GIMP (unless it's a Wacom, of course), or a tablet straight up just isn't compatible with the software. But with the Deco 01 v2, it was so incredibly easy. All I really had to do was was set the tablet up as normal, and then go into GIMP's input device settings and enable the Eraser function, choose a Brush Dynamics profile, and that was it. I was off and scribbling in about five minutes, when all was said and done. So, I'm super happy with my purchase of their product. This is technically my third tablet, but the first one I've been able to actually get to work with GIMP without any real hassle. First tablet was a Genius MousePen 608, and that KINDA worked with GIMP, but not really (it kept losing cursor position and I'd have to restart GIMP what seemed like every 10 minutes or so to get the cursor tracking back). The next one was a Turcom TS-6580B, and I couldn't get that one to work with GIMP no matter what I did. It's actually still sitting on the chair where I left it almost five years ago. Can't find the pen, though, so it's not really useful, anyway, and it was an active stylus and thus required 1xAAA battery. This drawing tablet is amazing so far. But yeah, the construction seems solid enough, the lit corners for the working area are a nice touch, especially if you're gonna be using it any at night, and having the little shortcut keys on the side is convenient. And I'm not gonna lie; the extras that are included with it certainly make it what I'd consider a decent value (other brands, you should be taking notes from these guys), and it comes at a decent price too, which, of course, is something to consider. The only thing I could mildly complain about is that I wish the PN05 stylus that comes with the Deco 01 v2 had the eraser end, and that could potentially be alleviated by swapping it out for another stylus, but I don't know if any other styluses from XP-PEN (or from anyone else, for that matter) are compatible with the tablet. So, maybe if anyone knows, one way or another, you could let me know in a comment to this review.

It's fine
So far this tablet works great, especially for the price point. I love that i could get it in pink and that it came with a protective thing for the actual tablet that doesn't interfere with the ability to draw/clock the pen. I also really like the pen: it's the same shape as much old one but with a little more weight. I do have some issues with it: The pen pressure isn't as customizable as I would like and the 16384 pressure levels are... very unnecessary. As far as I can tell you cannot make any of the buttons null (as in, not do anything). Physically, not having any separation between working and non-working area is annoying at best, plus the keys being smaller, more flush with the tablet itself (esp with the protective sheet), and closer together in an effort to be more aesthetic causes me to hit the wrong buttons constantly. Months later I really wish I had stuck with Huion, the tablets might not come in colors or be as pretty, but at least they're better to physically use.

Phenomenal Value
I've been using the product for about a month and a half now, as of this review, and it's really good. The full price is 100 dollars, but I got it for 50 (Canadian dollars). Goods: - Price - Quality - Easy-to-use driver - Nearly plug-and-play (still need to install the driver, but that's quite simple) - Includes a lot: a weighted stand with storage space for extra nibs, around 10 spare nibs, a drawing glove, a good USB-C cable, a USB-A (female) to USB-C (male) adapter, and a screen protector - Nice 8 tactile buttons on the board - Good feel when using the pen - Battery-free stylus (with a good range too!) - Comfortable stylus with a grip and 2 additional tactile buttons - Twice the standard pressure levels at 16k (though there's a point where more pressure levels make little difference, it's still cool) - Excellent driver features, such as customizable drawing space, hotkey functions, and dual functionality for hotkeys. Cons (very few): - The tablet occasionally disconnects from your device (can be fixed easily by unplugging and plugging the cable back in) - The driver setup process can be a bit daunting; it might require a restart or two. But there are no real problems in the end. - The screen protector looks a bit odd and tends to get oil underneath due to its design. Mostly cosmetic issues. If you move it often, it might bother you as the only sticky part is at the top, causing it to flap around. Overall, considering the price, it deserves a full 5 stars. It’s a great first step and will last you a long time. I recommend only purchasing this on Amazon, as the best prices are always here. A good next step (or first step if you have the budget) is the XP Pen Artist 12 3rd, in my opinion.
