Can this valve be mounted vertically

Hello, the solenoid can be mounted in any position,.

Can it be used to connect a rotary vane vacuum pump to a tank with atmospheric pressure ? Will the air leak through the closed valve?

As long as you observe the correct orientation of the valve (in/out direction), it doesn't matter, a vacuum on the low side (out) with atmospheric pressure on the high (in) side is no different than putting about 15 psi on the high side and atmospheric on the low - to a valve, it's all the same.

How much does the valve move?

don't understand the question. the moving parts are internal. it opens to provide what ever it takes the line to fill How far that is I don't know. If it is a half inch line the valve will move a half in.
