Great for the price!!
Good for the price! The change pad location tighteners stripped instantly, but they aren’t needed. You don’t need cable housing as it comes with it. They are crap but being able to brake for ~20 bucks is all you can ask.Make sure you know what you are doing when installing.

Easy bolt on. Worked great on Razor MX650
The previous hydraulic brakes I had installed blew out their seals so i wanted to swap out for another brand. Value for money is excellent with beefy, robust calipers that look and feel solid and bite much harder than the previous set of hydraulic brakes.Clean install, hardware feels nice in hand and metals don’t feel “overly light/cheap”. Feels like I can trust these to stop. Excellent grab, can actually hold the bike in place for a burnout til the front tire’s grip is overwhelmed.

Good Brake Set, Decent Build Quality, Need to Replace Undersized OEM Brake Pads
I wanted to upgrade my 22 year old Jamis mountain bike with a suspension fork and decided to add disc brakes while I was at it. I found a good deal on a Rockshox Judy Silver fork and purchased this brake set, in the 180mm size, to go with it, along with all the parts needed to convert from a threaded to a threadless headset. Everything went smoothly and installed without hassle, until I tried to fine tune the alignment of the brakes. When bedding-in the brakes I noticed that the brake pads only covered a portion of the disc, leaving what I would guess is about 20% of the braking surface of the disc exposed. I ground approximately 4mm of the 180mm disc post mount to post mount adapter/bracket (bought separately) off to try to align the pads over the disc better. This did help, but it needs to be lowered more than grinding the adapter will allow. When doing this mod, I also noticed the brake pad did not fully cover the caliper piston and wondered if the pads may be too small.I ordered and just received two new sets of pads, one Shimano and one Tektro. I measured the size of the pads with a micrometer and while the OEM pads are somewhat smaller, 2mm shorter and 1.5mm narrower, the biggest problem was the mounting stem/finger that secures the pads in place is too short, by about 3mm. This is probably the main reason the pad does not fully cover the disc. Also, the OEM pads are more curved, whereas the Shimano, and more so the Tektro pads are more rectangular, resulting in a larger surface area.Overall, the brakes are well built and solid. The installation went smoothly until I noticed the brake pad problem. I have ridden about 15-20 miles so far and they work about the same as the 22 year old V-brakes I had before. Don't take that statement the wrong way, the V-brakes worked exceptionally well, so that is actually a compliment to these disc brakes.Update:Just installed the Tektro pads and there is an immediate improvement in braking performance, which should improve even more as they continue to bed-in. The new pads also cover almost the entire braking area of the discs which is probably the biggest reason for the improvement. I did have to insert a washer between the mounting surfaces of the post mount bracket in order to raise them after grinding too much off. I am thinking these are better than my old V-brakes now. The new pads only cost $13, which would make the total cost of the fully functional 180mm disc brakes $50. Not bad compared to hydraulics, and at least its now an improvement over the old V-brakes.

Comes with wrong rotors
Each caliper is clearly marked 160mm front / 140mm rear - but the kit comes with two 160 rotors. For beginner installers, 160mm is how tall the rotor is (the flat metal thing that attaches to your wheels hub). The back caliper attaches directly to your bike frame, so if you put on the 160mm rotor in the bike the caliper doesnt have enough clearance to mount. I read the 160/140 on the bottom of the caliper, assumed id find a 160 and 140 in the box, found 2 160's and just sort of thought the print on the caliper was wrong, put them both on and then when i went to put the back wheel on found the clearance problem. Luckily, i had an old 140 laying around, so had to take off the new rotor, put on the old one and everything worked. It is annoying more than anything, and if you ordered 2 day shipping because you had a trip or something, and DIDN'T have a 140 laying around and did not think you'd need to order one, it could mess up your plans. Other than that, pretty basic, but effective super cheap disk brakes. Feedback to vendor - if they require a 160 and a 140 don't give us two 160's!!!!!!

Great price!
First let me say that I bought this kit to replace brakes on a bike my son screwed up so this was not a fresh installation, I have no idea what that entails or how easy or difficult it is. But for a replacement it worked great! Very self-explanatory and easy to adjust. The price is amazing!

Good upgrade over V Brakes
I used this kit on my old Diamondback Sorrento to swap the front V Brake for the disc brake in this kit. I went with this one because replacement pads are more readily available. I did not use the rear brake kit because 26 inch rear wheels that are compatible are not common. I was able to source a front wheel from the LBS and this kit fit fine. First impression was not great but I knew that the pads needed to be bedded for it to work properly. Brake worked better the next day. Great price and good deal.

They stop you !
They do what brakes are supposed to do. They stop you with a bit of extra squeeze compared to hydraulic brakes but do not need the maintenance.
