Every hair wants to go in it's own direction, and it's a real hassle. I've used wax, but I have to practically put tree sap in my mustache to control those coarse hairs. This brush was the perfect solution for me. You plug it in, turn it on, wait for 5 minutes -or so- for it to heat up, and you're good to go. For best results, go slowly as you brush to allow the heat to penetrate the hair. Straightened hair will keep its shape for a long time. Add mustache wax, or beard oil after brushing to extend the hold for your style. I have not noticed any burning hair smell, and my facial hair is undamaged after a dozen uses. The instructions on the box can be difficult to parse due to broken English, and say that heating takes 15 seconds. Heating time is more like 5 minutes.January 13th update: Stopped functioning today. Don't know why. Doesn't heat up at all. I used it once a day for about 5 minutes a day. I don't know if that was enough wear and tear to kill it. It's a shame, since it was a great product until it stopped functioning.January 20th update: They read my updated review, and got in touch with me right away. Offering to refund my purchase with a gift card or send me a new one free of charge. They stand by their product, and are very prompt and polite. I had already replaced the unit, so I opted for the gift card. I really do like this comb. It's especially great for mustaches. I used it every day.
