This soap is great for anyone with allergies or sensative skin. As a bonus, this soap doesn't contain any of the biotoxins you typically find in other soaps, which is great for anyone wanting to reduce exposure to harmful chemicals. The only concern is the vagueness of one of the ingredients; "essential oils" could be anything and it would be nice to have the specific oils listed. Otherwise my only problem was keeping it dry and airtight. I've been keeping it in a plastic container in the shower. The one time I didn't close the lid all the way, it got some water trapped in it. By the time I realized the next day, half of the soap was a dark almost black color and squishy. I wish I knew how to fix that. Overall it's a good soap. Definitely the best I've ever used. I put it on an exfoliating cloth and afterwards I feel squeeky clean. Really, there's nothing better out there. Even amongst other African black soaps, this one was the only one that didn't have any allergens.

I decided to buy a soap that I could use all over my body- including my face. This is the first I bought soap. It has surprised me with rich lather eventhough it doesn't have sulfates that dries the skin. The scent is a light smell of sandalwood..not repulsive at all! The bar of soap is very, very thick. I didn't need a lot of it during cleansing. It rinses well off my skin. I think this product is well worth the price. When it's time, I will buy more. Thank you to the creators who made this soap. Other commenters have mentioned the ... subtle sandalwood scent. It is so subtle I can’t detect it at all. However it seems like a perfectly good bar of black soap, it lathers well and cleans thoroughly. Everyone’s skin is different but I find it to be a little drying to the skin, more so than the Shea Essentials African soap you see at Walgreens. I live in the south so I think this soap going to prove useful for hot, humid days when deep cleaning is needed, maybe alongside some mildly scented body wash.

This all natural soap will leave your skin feeling CLEAN! I don’t mean just normal clean- I a mean CLEAN. And the scent is so lovely. I use it daily and my skin is so soft and no more breakouts. It keeps you moisturized without making you feel oily. As a cancer patient- some soaps have made me feel greasy, itchy or very dry. This soap has kept my skin in great condition while going through treatments. After I lost all my hair- I also used it in my scalp to keep it soft and keep away any scalp dryness. Buy this soap- you will never buy anything else!!

First of all, the scent is NOT earthy..it smells like burnt motor oil. Second, it burnt my face so bad that it took nearly an hour for the redness to subside, and lastly, it dries my skin and definitely won't work for washing my hair. I have to wonder about all the good reviews on here. Doesn't feel like there's any Shey butter in it. Going to try Allafia black soap next. I gave this 3 stars because it has a decent lather

So I have a combination of sensitive and normal skin. I got this as recommended to me after the other types failed to clear out a break out I had. I cut it into smaller pieces and put them in a ziplock bag. I used it, and it's a bit too strong and drying for my skin; the break out disappeared and was completely gone in two weeks, but my skin felt so dry. Instead of using it twice a day, I use it once only At night. To help with the Moisture, I Use Retinol Serum and Palmer's facial therapy Oil, which helps. My advice is to buy this if you want to fight stubborn acne and hydrating serum and moisturizer to avoid dryness.

I was amazed at how much suds this soap makes! The sandalwood smell was barely noticeable, but the suds and cleaning, to me was worth future purchases. My skin is mostly dry (I'm older) and it's difficult to find any soap that doesn't dry out my skin. I noticed my skin wasn't as dry as usual with other bar soaps. I believe this product is definitely worth the money.
