The two straps work well for a great fit around a smaller waist and wider hips I'm 5'9, and it is a great length and fits well but I can appreciate if you are a petite woman it would swamp you The most unusual thing I found - I've been carrying a weighted back pack on my walks and it's weird, at first, to suddenly having weight around your midriff, somewhere women don't normally carry it. think it actually makes me stand straighter.

I've seen reviews of other vests that have sand bags and they seem to split easily. Are the sand bags in this one robust, or do they split easily?

Had mine (20kg) for years now (atleast 5!) and it’s not split yet! Though the velcro straps that wrap around your body for comfort have given up with time which is to be expected to be honest.
