I looked and researched for the best wood treatment for my log cabin build. I wanted low VOC and the 'cleanest' I could get. This covers well, I ordered 5 but only needed 4 to do 2 coats and strategic multiple coats on corners etc on a 4x3 cabin. One of the things I was looking for also is the ability to cover over it, so now this is on I will apply the weather proof coating having confidence the cabin is well protected under it. It also covers the warranty with the supplier.

Well it's rather difficult to assert that this stuff does the job it says it does on the tin, although I've been using it on my 13 fence panels for some time. I originally used it about 4 years ago and the fence is still in good condition so recently bought more to repeat the process. It doesn't colour the fence, just (hopefully) protects it from water and insects.I actually bought two tins of it since I use a spray to get the treatment into the hard to reach spots, and the spray gets through a litre of product for every one and a half fence panels. You might find it goes further with a brush, but then it takes a lot longer to get the job done. I know because two panels were close to a neighbours fishpond so I do use a brush on the upper parts of those panels (this treatment is toxic to aquatic life) to avoid spraying over the top of the fence. Cleaning equipment is simple enough, just put some washing up liquid and warm water in the spray's container and run it through to clean out any product left in the spray. Then rinse out with a spray of clean water.So, easy to use with a spray, in fact preparing the fence (removing ivy, green patches etc.) takes longer than doing the job.

As far as I can tell there is nothing wrong with this product. I've used all sorts of Sika products in the past. However I must not have read the description properly. I expected it to be solvent based. I realise that the trend is away from solvent based products but I justify my preference by never allowing spills (I stand the can in a bucket) and never burn treated wood. It's just that there's something reassuring about seeing a preservative absorbed. (Honest if not necessarily logical),
