The Adventures of Tintin, vol. 1 : Tintin in the Land of the Soviets / Tintin in the Congo

Rare book. Very difficult to get your hands on after it has been discontinued. A treasured piece of literary history.

a great book that I wish wasn't as hard to get even if it is controversial just to see where tintin started

This is by far the best way to get the book Tintin in the Congo if you live in the United States. Not only is it hard to come by but it also comes with the very first Tintin which every collector should also own!

I wanted to have the complete collection so ordered this. Cartoon is very different from other books. Only from the Third book story and cartoon gets interesting. If want a complete collection have it else you wont miss it.

my 12 year old love these books. i bought the whole set and he stared reading them right away. their all in comic book form and very easy reading. a perfect gift if u are trying to encourage reading. now if the school could put it on the AR ook list. that would be nice cuz he just flew them.

It is a full set of Tintin. As a Tintin fan, I do enjoy it. Tintin, a hero of the past centary. Tintin, friend of China! However, there are some other sellers with lower price and shipping fees. They may post a full set of Tintin in one package.

I COLLECT ALL THE ADVENTURE OF TINTIN BOOKS AND I LIKE THE STORY OF MYSTERY, HISTORY, AND ADVENTURE. JUST LIKE INDIANA JONES AND SHERLOCK HOLMES.

Product dud not meet my expectations.

I have been looking for these two books for a long time and it is nice to have them both in one set. My only beef is that it wasn't in this size I was expecting from the books I already have. Still, it is very readable and nice to see the early Tintin drawings.

This is a collectors edition. Land of Soviets is in black and white and more a sketch & story but provides a fascinating view on how Tintin was developed. I must warn you and it says on the book as well, a number of assumptions, story lines and pictures can be deemed offensive today. This is however a reflection on how much has changed and how mankind has progressed from such biases. I would recommend parents to help younger children understand the concepts in these books rather than take it as face value.

I got them for my sons as I remember reading them when I was young. They were hooked just like I was, for the right price these are great books. It's a bit like Marmite, you are a Tintin fan or not.

Información que eché en falta al comprar este tomo (y que tuve que comprobar al recibir el pedido) es que el formato de estos libros de colección es más pequeño que los cómics Tintin de siempre, más o menos la mitad. Esto tiene como consecuencia que, al tener cada cuento el mismo número de páginas que los de siempre, se reduce el tamaño de las viñetas y letras y es más difícil descifrarlas. Tengo que decir que mi hijo de ocho años no tuvo problemas con este tamaño reducido, aunque a mí (a pesar de no necesitar gafas), y me imagino que a personas que no quieran o que no puedan esforzar mucho la vista, les podría llegar a cansar. Además, en el caso de este libro cabe destacar que "Tintin in the Land of the Soviets" es un cómic que no ha sido coloreado, es decir, permanece en blanco y negro, mientras "Tintin in the Congo", es, como suele ser, en color.
