It's not perfect - the backlighting could be more even and the colors aren't as vivid as a flagship Samsung or LG, but the fact that you can buy a TV of this size and resolution with built-in Roku to boot is nothing short of amazing. 4k and 1080p content look incredibly sharp, the interface is easy to use, it has three HDMI ports (though, as far as I can tell, only one is 4k capable unfortunately), and the speakers sound great. I don't have any solid numbers, but it doesn't feel like there's much latency while gaming. I bought the refurbished model, and there were some very slight signs of use - minor scratches and a small amount of some sort of adhesive on the bezel were present. The screen was absolutely fine. You can really only find these defects if you're deliberately looking for them and they don't concern me at all. I bought one for my parents and I have every intention of buying one for my apartment soon. I highly recommend this TV. Review: Amazing quality, good for gaming. - I've had this TV for 5 month's now. I got an Xbox one X and only had a 720p monitor, and while the power of the console was good, I knew I could do better. So I went with the 4k, I've spent at least 3-5hours running games, Netflix, Hulu, playing online and offline, every single day. The "xbox one enhanced" games look amazing, as do the non 4k games. I have yet to see any lagging or response failure to any online gaming as well. I know with the price, people assume that TCL cut corners somewhere, but I haven't found it. This TV was a "certified refurbished" and I think that the only reason the customer before me returned it was because they were to lazy to tune the settings. Yeah, so right out of the box, the black's and dark brown's kinda look pixilated (for some reason it seemed like the tv couldn't figure out where the color shade borders were), so I allowed for a wider range of darker colors and the problem went away. 5minutes of messing with the setting's, and this TV is as good as a Samsung right out of the box. I'd say that 5minutes of tuning was worth saving several hundred bucks. Highly recommend.

Good, Not Great
Good: CHEAP! Sound is actually pretty good. The built in Roku works great. Good antenna reception. Ethernet port or Wifi connectivity, 3.5mm audio output, lightweight, easy to assemble. Image upscaling is good - makes really low quality old episodes on streaming services look okay (e.g. Crackle) Bad: Screen motion blur, especially evident in scenes with a short depth of field. Remote has to be aimed just right - I would prefer wifi remote w/ voice like my Roku stick. The stock picture settings are all too red - lots of adjustments needed. Screen is glossy so you get reflections from lamps and windows. Overall, the picture just doesn't pop the way some others do. Overall: I wonder if the 1080p version might actually be better, at least at this size. I watched some stuff in 4K and it's really no better. However, this is a fine choice for most people.

Great tvs ,but sometimes a bad one gets through
Got here just in time..well packed and worked perfectly.. i got one from bestbuy and had to return it because of a screen issue that's known, but thr next was great...the good ones are awesome.. the interface is easy..the picture is super Update - piece of crap just suddenly lost picture on all inputs..can't even access menu..barely 2 yrs old. Extremely dissapointing product. Tcl should be ashamed . 😠

My New Favorite Even over Viziio Noe
1st off. I feel like I stole the dang thing for $279 at the time of this review. People complaining about cracked screens and giving it 1 star are 100% ridiculous. Yep I said it. Amazon makes good on their sales and will exchau it for free. I also purchased the 4 year protection plan for like $20 more. That probably ensured a hand picked model for me. Where else can you get a 4k ULTRA HDR 49" with 4 year warranty for $319 total taxes and shopping? Nowhere. TCL makes all their components to cut down on costs The quality of the pic on YouTube HDR is amazing. If you want true blacks, set the picture to viivid or sport mode and you are GOOD. Is it on the same level as Samsung oled? Of course not! But the last time I checked. Your i going to have your TCL side by side with a Samsung 5 Guinness the price in your living room! Duh! Bottom line.... The picture is friggin Awesome for the price. Friends and family are blown away when they see it. Best $279 I've spent. Heck even $319 for new is dirt cheap. If you get the refurbished like I did and putchay the 4 year protection and you'll probably get a great one like I did. Don't listen to naysayers that probably have very little to no experience with tech and won't even take the time to visit YouTube and figure out how to get the best quality picture for it. Next for me is a 65-75" TCL for the living room

Great TV, but I won't buy refurbished again.
I like TCL TV's. The price performance ratio is fine for me, and I like the fact that it has a built-in Roku client. I bought two of these as refurbished units. The first one was fine. This one had artifacting all over it from the moment I turned it on and it constantly restarted itself. I don't think I would buy a refurbished product again, but I am going to buy the new version of this one as soon as UPS picks the old one up. I don't know why the word "certified" is supposed to be so special in the product description. It's fairly obvious that nothing really was certified on this TV.
