My two cats are so finicky when it comes to their dry food. One is an indoor/outdoor the other is strictly an outdoor TNR cat. The only thing I could get them to eat is Rachael Rays nourish dry food. I wasn’t crazy about its ingredients but they liked it. Well I bought a bag of the chicken Halo dry food and figured I’ll try it on them. OMG!! They ate it like crazy. They never finish their morning feeding and they didn’t beg for food all day til evening when they got more. This is great and the ingredients are so much better. All the other expensive healthy dry food I’ve bought them they’ve had no use for. They’d rather starve. lol. I didn’t even have to mix it with their old food. Amazing!

Prior to giving my cat the Halo brand I was feeding her the "Merrick Before Grain #1 Chicken Dry Cat Food," but I noticed it would take her almost two days to eat 1 cup serving. I chose that brand because it was grain free and my cat has a sensitive stomach and it was the only brand she was able to eat without getting sick. Overtime I thought she would grow an acquired taste for it but after a couple of months she would eat less and less of this brand and take longer to finish her daily portions. I figured all grain free brands were going to taste bland no matter what. This past week I decided to give it another shot and have her try another brand. I gave my cat a small portion of the Halo brand as though I was feeding her a treat. I was happy to see how quick she ate the small portion I gave her. This made me realize I might not have to transition her into this brand of food by mixing the two different brands together. So I poured out her previous brand of food and poured one cup serving into her dish. I left for a couple of hours and upon my return I saw that her food was gone already. It's been a week now that she has been eating this product and so far she has not had an upset stomach. I definitely recommend Halo for your cat especially if they have a sensitive stomach and if they prefer brands that have more flavor.

The first 5 ingredients are basically what most pet food critics use to review kibble. Above average content and appears to be recall free, not chemical free and no guarantee that the sourcing of products is clear of problems. That is something I watch since the 2007 recall. The largest recall of pet food in the history of the World revealed almost all pet food companies were using the same sources for their protein booster. The melamine used to inflate the rate of protein in pet food months later also caused a recall in baby formulas. I've followed the many lawsuits against pet food companies and the one woman criticizing the Pet Food Industry and AAFCO for their lack of regulatory control over pet food ingredients Susan Thixton. Her Truth about Pet Food, Petsumer Reports caught HALO using some cans that were not BPA free. I rate a food on the overall production quality of the company as well as the individual food because unknown factors are what killed 2 of my pets. It was a long slow death. I have one mom and her grown kindle. First, they all loved it. Second, I have UTI's amongst the group. To fight the cost of feeding all soft food I moisten kibble, then use a topper. The topper is often home cooked, even that has chemical problems. The issues of food safety for pets is so complex that I've come to think it very important that a company reveal the source that provided their extra food additives. Halo does not do that. In that regards they don't make me feel any more confident about their product than some of the formerly recalled companies. Halo is quick to become soft when distilled water is poured on it. I refrigerate it for the process and then pour something warm over it. That is a good thing for feeding a group of cats where more than one has repeat urinary tract problems. I purchased mine at a discount, again one reason I could afford it. I find it pricey. At full price this is in a price range that I can also buy Honest Kitchen. A company that does publicly post where all their ingredients are sourced. Their cat food is chemical free, to the extent any food is chemical free. Thumbs up but with precautions.

My 18 year cat has CKD and this food is rated to have pretty low phosphorus levels. I'd rather feed him only wet food, but he's a food licker (vs. taking bites) and has a hard time finishing a full daily serving wet food. When he started losing too much weight, I gave in and began supplementing his diet with this dry food. So far, so good. Between his weekly IV fluids, a little daily lactulose (buy from dr. foster and smith) and some miralax in his wet food, he's had no serious constipation issues, which I'm so happy about. I know WAY too much about cat poop and cat enemas at this point and I was terrified that he'd be pooping dry little rocks with the introduction of kibble into his diet. PHEW. I'd actually say this food has improved his stool. .... Aaaaaanyhoo, enough about poo. Totally suggest giving this a try if you need to add some calories into your CKD kitty's diet. If you're cat is not CKD, you can afford a bit more and your cat will eat it, I highly suggest just feeding wet food though. It's believed that most older kitties suffer from CKD due to eating a kibble diet for most their lives, which does not provide enough hydration. Without hydration, their kidneys pay the price in the long run and they wind up needing to be on a special wet diet and/or need to be hydrated by IV with sub-q fluids daily/weekly... this can get all get pricey and stressful. My cat's health is worth it and it keeps him healthy and happy... but it's still a stress that could have possibly been avoided for the both of us.

My cats regularly eat Simply Nourish® Original Cat Dry Food - Chicken & Pea, Natural, Grain Free. They love this food, I wanted to add another type of food to it for a variety for them. I purchased this Halo, grain free chicken dry cat food, added it into the box that I keep their other food in, and mixed it in really well. Then I gave them some of the mixed combination. They loved this food! They were pushing their other food out of the way to get to this food! I have noticed less vomiting's, and their fur coats are so soft! I have 4 cats, they all like it! Also, everything in the litter box looks good too!

Back when it came in the pink bags pre 2020, it was the best and healthiest cat food you could get. My 4 Cats loved it and had healthy skin, fur, digestion… it’s different now and the cats will only eat a little bit of this once a week for a change. I don’t think it has the same health benefits anymore anyway.

I have a 1-year old part-Maine Coon cat. When he was about 7-8 months old he started getting bad sores on his belly. The vet thought he had a food allergy and wrote out a prescription for a wildly expensive allergen-free diet. I love my cat but the price of the prescription food was outrageous. It simply wasn't a sustainable option to keep him healthy. I started looking into more affordable alternatives and found this on Amazon. The smell is definitely strong - some cats may be turned off by it. Fortunately, my cat loves it. He eats this in combination with two cans of Sheba cat food (gluten and grain-free) a day. His sores have completely disappeared and his coat is much softer and shinier. He is a growing Maine Coon so he eats a fair amount - I would say that this 3lb bag last us about 3-3 1/2 weeks. That works out to a pretty reasonable price for keeping my little guy happy and healthy.

I have a 9 month-old recovering feral cat with chronic health issues (feline herpes and a stubborn roundworm infestation) who is on a combination diet of Wellness canned kitten food and this Halo grain-free dry food. I ran out of the Halo dry food last month and substituted a grain-free dry food by Wellness that he had eaten previously, and it just didn't seem to agree with him nearly as well as Halo... his herpes/upper respiratory symptoms worsened and he clearly went into a herpes flare. Upon returning him to the Halo dry food, these symptoms have calmed and his energy has improved, and the condition of his fur is looking better as well. I don't know what it is about this food that seems to agree with him so well, but I'm so glad and grateful that it does. I will make sure to not run out again, although, I should note here that the reason I ran out in the first place was due to having problems with bags of this food arriving from Amazon partially open, with food spilling into the packing box. I am guessing this was due to rough handling during shipment, but I didn't want to take any chances, so I ended up buying with no problems from a different online retailer until Amazon can address this issue.
