The SafePlug Home Theater Energy Saver Outlet is a duplex-receptacle, smart electrical outlet with both safety and energy saving features. SafePlug receptacles protect your electronics and appliances from damage caused by surges, open neutral conditions, and high / low line voltages, and protects your home from most causes of electrical fires. Plus, the SafePlug outlet pays for itself in just months! To cut your electricity bills, the SafePlug Home Theater Energy Saver outlet automatically disconnects your TV, subwoofer, amplifier and other components from line power when you turn off a master device to stop phantom power draw. Plug in the control device (e.g. DVR) into the top receptacle (marked "MASTER"). The bottom receptacle (marked "ACC") feeds one accessory device, or a power strip with multiple devices. The Master receptacle is normally turned on. The ACC receptacle is only on when the device in the MASTER receptacle is drawing more than 20W. For example, plug your DVR into the MASTER receptacle and a power strip with your TV, stereo, subwoofer, disc player, and other into the ACC receptacle. When the DVR is on, the ACC receptacle turns on. When you switch the DVR to off or stand-by mode, the ACC receptacle will turn off. The DVR will still record what you want, but the other equipment cannot draw unwanted phantom power.
