Miraculous Images of Our Lord: Famous Catholic Statues, Portraits and Crucifixes

This is an excellent book by Joan Carroll Cruz. The book reviews 42 statues, crosses, portraits and other religious items that have been evaluated by the Catholic Church and found to be worthy of belief. This step is helpful in eliminating any miraculous events which have occurred but have not been authenticated. Having read other books by Joan Carroll Cruz which were also good books, I have found this one to be one of my favorite so far. I would be willing to give this book to anyone who has an open mind about religious events and is curious to read about these types of occurrences.

I, just love this book. Joan Carroll Cruz takes you all over the world,its just like being there.the photos of the lmages are all there, aswill as the history of each lmage. I love it , see for your self.

this will be some serious reading over the winter

This is the companion book to Miraculous Images of Our Lady. Forty-two remarkable true accounts of miraculous manifestations of Our Lord from various parts of the globe; richly illustrated by actual photos - some in full color - of miraculous statues, crucifixes and other holy images, along with descriptions of the person whose lives they touched. Includes the Church's two most treasured images of Our Lord - the Holy Shroud and the Veil of Veronica - as well as the beloved Infant Jesus of Prague and the famous San Damiano Crucifix (pictured on the cover), from which Our Lord told St. Francis of Assisi to rebuild His Church. Also described are the Crucifix of Limpias, which "reenacted" the Passion of Christ; the crucifix that spoke to St. Thomas Aquinas, the crucifix of St. Bridget of Sweden, which resulted in the beautiful and famous 15 prayers and promises, plus many other images of comparable interest and inspiration. 138 illustrations (16 in color). 235pp. PB. This author's writing style is just does not work for me. She includes comments that nowadays people would cringe away from as racist or just plain ignorant.

Of course this is a book essentially for those who believe in Our Lord and the possibility of miracles, but it might be quite eye-opening for others.

I am so enjoying reading this book. It's packed full of great facts and information about miraculous images of Christ. I really wanted to read more about the Shroud of Turin and Veil of Veronica and the book includes these two. Highly recommend this author, she's fab.
