Q: Is this a good price per ounce even if you have to take the hard seed part off

I think it is a good price. Hard to find in the store around me. Had it fresh, and it seemed wasteful for the price. There isn't much waste with the canned, as it is basically cleaned. Very little seed pods.

Q: This item is not eligible for return, but came damaged. Dented cans can lead to botulism. How is this issue resolved?

Call Amazon. Ordered mine this week and it came today(11-13-20). All 6 cans were dented even though the Amazon box was fine. It's a joke that it's says it's carefully packaged in the description since mine was only wrapped in a thin plastic inside the Amazon box.

Q: What does it smell like?

It has non descript vegetable smell. The beauty of jackfruit is its texture and lack of strong flavor. It serves as a vehicle for the sauce/flavoring you put on it.
