Travel from your couch
My dad has always wanted to travel to Israel, but he suffers from dementia which would make traveling to difficult. This allows him to see all the sights in the comfort of his living room!

Invaluable Resource
The suggestions for restaurants and B&Bs were superb; e.g., without the book in hand, we never would have come upon The Little Skillet in Kinsale. We spent a delightful evening in this charming restaurant that seats fewer than 20. The entire side trip to the little towns of Kinsale and Cobh was unplanned and quite memorable and suggested by the book. This was my first trip to Ireland and my husband's sixth. He was pleasantly surprised to be seeing and doing things he hadn't before. The many easy-to-read maps were useful. We happily handed over the book to a young couple from California we met in the Temple Bar in Dublin the final night of our trip.

Dated but Still Helpful
This video of Ireland was made in 2005, and since that time, many changes have happened in Ireland, especially with the economy. With that said, the sites are still there, and it's still helpful to see where to visit. I hope a newer version will be made.

Loaded with lots of information.
One thing Rick Steves does is take the fear out of European travel. After you watch this video, you will have plenty of info on how to enjoy a self guided trip to Ireland even if you don't visit any of the locations he visits. Of the several Ireland Dvds Ive gotten so far this is the most usefull for travel.

This book is great!!!
I just got back from my first international trip to Ireland and this book was our bible. Ever place we stayed and most places we ate were recommended in the book and the reviews were right on. My fiance has traveled all over europe with other travel books and she is not hooked on rick steves. A nice feature is it labels restaurants and places to stay by price range so you can pick a place to fit your budget. Another nice feature is it gives the history of a lot of attractions so you can read about the place as you visit it. I recommend this book to anyone.

Great Ireland Guide
Great ideas for minimizing expenses while maximizing enjoyment. Ireland is our favorite place outside of the U.S., but Rick's guide always has "new" information that makes another trip a better experience!
