Star Trek Starfleet Science Division Badge Replica

I bought this for a Spock costume. and was super impressed with the quality. I've had it for years now, and carried it around pinned to a bag, and it still looks like it's in great condition. Multiple and quality pin backs insures that it lays perfectly, and also is less likely to unpin and get lost.There are some scratches on the pin, under the clear protective enamel. This initially annoyed me, but they are actually screen accurate to Spock's pin in the new Star Trek movies.His bears the exact same scratches. I was really impressed with this detail. If you are using it for a different science officer, such as Bones, this could be a concern. However, they don't stand out much and are only really noticeable on close inspection.This is a great prop, for a very reasonable price. It works great for cosplay.

Starfleet hails you.This is exactly what is says it is- a replica of the science division of Starfleet. But beware! This is the badge for the REBOOT universe, JJ's movies. This does not match the badge in The Original Series, as TOS's is actually gold and is actually connected to their uniform- not a pin.Of course, I just wanted a badge that would be removable so that I could wear it on a bunch of different shirts, so I ordered this one. It's a nice pin, sturdy, and it looks like the real thing. If you're going for a quick fix for a Reboot costume, this is great for the price. If you want to throwback to TOS days, you would want to look for something else to be authentic.Don't think I'm bashing this; I knew what I was buying when I bought it, and I still love it. It's a great addition for the new Star Trek fan, and even a nice item for the old generation fans as well.

The pin is a good size and well-made except for the clasps on the back. One clasp didn't have the side tabs to open it and was jammed on so tightly that I almost couldn't remove it. Luckily I had extra lapel pin clasps and found one that worked otherwise I wouldn't be able to wear it.

Its really good quality and very sturdy looks great and is the size as advertised. Just to inform in case your like me and getting this as a gift for some one and your not a trekie this is the NEW bages from the "Rebirth" of the franchise you will find this pins in the new moves that came out in the 2000's these are NOT the original generation pins and I thought it wouldn't matter but it does so just double check before you buy or else you'll end up sporting one of these since you have no one else to give it to and start watching the series to understand what your waring.

I bought the Command division badge for my mom for Christmas, and she LOVED it, so I just had to get one for myself, and as a Spock (and later, Data) fan, I had to get the Science badge.The packaging leaves a little to be desired, if you're giving this as a gift (you can't really read the text as well as in the available picture) but the quality of the pin more than makes up for it. I love the brushed finish, and it stays in place beautifully. The back has two pinpoints which secure to your clothing with butterfly clutches.I wear this pin pretty often, and it always elicits lots of smiles and compliments. I highly recommend it to anyone who was ever a fan of Star Trek, and who enjoys showing off her/his nerdiness :)

Son and I are very pleased with this item. It is metal, no plastic. It has a nice weight, solid but not enough to sag on clothing. Two tack-style pins with squeeze caps keep pin from swiveling on clothing.The retail package is attractive, not exceptional. The front window panel lifts, almost jewel-box fashion. It isn't a jewel or display box, but relatively light cardboard. Didn't feel flimsy and ours did have a color background behind the pin.That said, it is cool and fun, and we are glad to have it! We also ordered the Star Trek Command badge, so I'll copy this review to that page, as that one is equally nice, ours was from a different seller.(While not a part of this 'product' star rating, I'll note that it arrived promptly, was appropriately packaged, and was in brand-new condition)

Solid, accurate, attractive. Pins are fairly securely held, but consider replacing with lockable ones if it's going to experience any stress.

As a member of the Star Trek fan association, STARFLEET, I like to have a badge to wear to promote it, and to show my pride in the Fleet. I am currently a Xenopsychologist onboard ship, but I like the TOS way of keeping Medical and Science together with the same badge. I view myself as more of a scientist than a doctor, personally, and in LARP and online RP, I tend to have general science as a hobby.It is really well made, and of a very strong metal- no plastic! There are two prongs, also sturdy, and it really does look just like it came from the set of the movies.
