The photos show approximately one weeks growth in Masterblend Tomato and Vegetable nutrients. I haven't been using an air stone in most of my units but will probably switch now that I've seen how well it works. The air being supplied by the pump keeps the plant roots in oxygen and adds a small amount of positive pressure to the reservoir which keeps the unit mostly algae free. The pictures prove plants definitely love it.The directions leave a lot to your imagination and, even though the fluid level indicator is mostly useless, you can't leave it out due to the pre-drilled hole for it. I would skip using the included rockwool because it's a magnet for algae. Start your seeds in a regular seed starting tray and then rinse the roots off and transfer them to the hydroponic system. Use the included clay pebbles to stabilize the plants in the net cups. You will be amazed at how fast they grow. it takes them a day to stabilize in the new environment and then explosive growth.Having had such good luck with this unit I am going to try some other pre-made systems available, including a nutrient flow system for larger plants. If you want to dip your toe in hydroponics, this is a great starter unit. Make sure you have plenty of light and you can grow greens inside all year. Great science project if you have kids.
