Michael Stearns - Encounter: A Journey in the Key of Space - desertcart.com Music Review: A masterpiece - Michael Stearns is not my favourite ambient music author. I think that his works suffer from "new age sindrom" of cheap electronic music supposed to be listen at any time during any kind of works which means at the end supposed to not be listen at all, and never. However, this CD is an exception to this instant supermarket kind of music, as Encounter is deep, powerfull and inspiring CD. It's a very pleasent surprise for me. The CD contains 3 melancholic tracks which are among the best ever composed in electronic music, and few other tracks which go very very deep in reflexion about philosopical meaning of the encounter with another lifeform. So, if you think about yourself as an ambien freak, then this is one of those rare CD which you should have in your collection and keep it forever. Review: Pleasant journey - Take a journey through the stars. Put on headphones, sink into a completely comfortable recliner, take off in a spaceship and drift through the stars with this. I had the tape of this and when times changed, came to desertcart to get the CD. This is one of my very favorite "space music" albums. I particularly love the take-off with true headphones on (the kind that shut out all the other sounds around you) because it makes you feel like gripping the recliner arms to hang on as the force blows you backward. Yeah...it's that powerful.

A must-have in any good space music library.
I've already had this on CD for a looooong time, but it's worn out, so I got a digital copy. One of my favorite albums. Every piece feels like it was composed outside of the confines of our known world. A beautiful masterpiece !

Excellent!
I Jokingly say this is "real" Space Music. I figure this music could have been used to score a cheesy 90s UFO Documentary or perhaps even a B UFO Movie. I love this music and I have listened to this CD many times.

I enjoy this rather etherial "new age" music as a background for evenings. I also found this album really intersting to listen to. It is, to me, very entertaining. This is a great album.

Great, Space, New Age.
for so long, it was difficult, or near impossible to find New Age, or "Space" music. It is great that this style music is available, Now.

Great Music
Some of the best music is from alternative artists, like this one, and are therefore not always forefront in the public eye.

Not bad! It didn't grab me as much as BARAKA did. In Baraka, you didn't hear the engines of a spaceship. All the sounds felt like they all came from a source that you would automatically associate with nature and the wilderness. I just felt that the crickets and bird sound effects didn't quite belong in space but who am I to be a critique?
