A Functional Easy-to-Read Military Style Field Watch
The Seiko 5 SNZG11 J1 is in many ways the perfect watch. The Arabic Numerals are the perfect font size. It has day/date and a red-tipped seconds hand with lume. The datewheel is white, which makes it easy to read in low light. I place the watch crown down at night and gain 2 seconds a day...Amazing.This watch looks very sporty and expensive but in a reserved, understated way.It has wonderful wrist presence with that eyecatching blue dial...People just stare at it because it's so legible, they can read the time from several feet away.I can easily dress it up with a coffee brown leather strap or metal bracelet, upgrade to a NH36 movement and a domed saffire crystal with underside a-r coating; but for now I'm very happy with the watch as is.It's very useful when I'm busy at work. All I need is a quick glance to tell the time, the day and the date. It's the watch I reach for every morning.

Comfortable, looks good...
This is my second Seiko 5. My first is the smaller Seiko 5. To start, the larger is now 11 seconds fast in 48 hours. The edges, machining, general look is crisp. Nothing on this watch looks cheap. The dark blue version is a deep navy blue and will look black in darker settings. Perfect for my tastes. The only thing I wish is for this watch to come out in a 40mm*10mm version. The smaller Seiko 5 is 37*10mm and the larger is 42mm*12mm. Finding a perfect sized field watch for less than 200$ has been a process.Overall this watch is balanced, nothing appears over-the-top, a quality watch to wear around town.

A GOOD PURCHASE
I start off saying I am a true Seiko fan. My father had Seiko's Viet Nam, which I have and they are in my watch collection currently and still run, WOW. Yeah, I know and they are keeping good time. I recently purchased the Seiko Men's SNZF17J1 5 Sports Automatic Stainless Steel Watch black dial, this IS a awesome watch. I receive kudo's constantly about it -------- everyday and is a go to everyday watch. Just a good time piece. The SEIKO SNZG11J1 5 SORTS BLUE WATCH -----I am not impressed with the band. Somewhat on the inexpensive side and it is being replaced with a Hondinkee Grey Distressed Leather in a 22mm size. It should go well with the matte grey casing. Preference (casing) would have been done all in stainless steel. Looks cleanerThe watch is excellent regarding time keeping , I am impressed. Setting the watch is relatively easy and you can hack (set) it but it can be a trick. yet possible. I personally prefer to hack it exact, so when the sweep hand hits 12 , the minute hand hits EXACTLY on that minute. Minor but nice & to see this when all hands hit at high noon 12. All hands perfectly matched up and looks very, very nice ! .Overall opinion of the watch had I had a choice to rethink the purchase --- YES !, I would buy it. I like it and hope for future pleasure from the watch and a continuing great relationship to Seiko Watch brandIf you purchase this watch I do hope that you like as well as I do.Enjoy, if this is your choice

Recommend this to anyone.
I've been wearing this watch for about a week now & I love it. It's a solid purchase considering it's roughly 150 bucks. Although I'm not sure of how to measure a time pieces' accuracy down to the second I can tell you it is spot on in comparison to my phone & computer. The dial is extremely easy to read with both Arabic numerals & hour/minute markers on the raised portion of the dial. The hr/min/sec hands compliment both the numbers and hr/min markers around the watch. The red color on the end of the seconds hand also makes it very easy to distinguish from the blue face. One thing that has impressed me the most is the lume on this watch & how easy it is to read in low light settings especially after a charge. Day/Date is very straight forward in the aspect of easiness to read. The bezel/outer casing is a brushed stainless steel while between the lugs & the portion surrounding the skeleton back is polished. I have not tested it in water yet although I trust it will be ok if you jump in the river/pool or shower with it. I have nothing bad to say about the strap that comes with the watch even though I have two nato straps which is more for my customization/style. I would recommend this watch to anyone that's looking to break their budget. It's not too fancy but at the same time I wear it to work (white collar job) & it's a step above my G-shock which I would normally wear fishing/exercising etc. I hope this helps anyone interested in this.

Quality and price … both exceptional.
Another watch for my collection. Love the colors of both the band and the watch face. Quality and price, spot on.

Superb watch
I own 2 TAGs, 1 Breitling, have owned Rolexes, Tissots, etc.. This is my second Seiko. The first one is an automatic Diver and is great. This one is *fantastic* as a lightweight robust military-style watch for the outdoors. It is by far my favorite watch in my collection. The scratch resistant Hardlex, the very bright fluorescent markings, the date/timer, all of it is great. It does not require/use winding and is wound by moving it -- another great feature. And all this for $150! You simply cannot find a saphire-like scratch resist, automatic, date/timer for this price. I am super impressed with Seikos.

Great Seiko 5 series of Automatic Watch
This watch does exactly what it was meant to do.Mechanical Automatic Watch, looks great, inexpensive, really for what you are paying, hard to beat. The history of the series from Seiko is interesting in itself. I did a lot of research... this was my choice and I am impressed. It may not be hand made – its a tool watch – visually perfect for its function. And… Its super comfortable to wear… You will forget it is there with the nylon band. One of the best examples of mass production in the world. Really top drawer for the price, no one believes me. Best cost effective purchase… and it is very tough. One other point… Mechanical watches are less temperature sensitive or temperamental to adverse climatic changes. No electronics or battery, sealed well, transparent back shows all. What you see in the picture understates, what you get is pretty impressive. Works flawlessly.

Great watch, but heads up on one thing….
This is a great watch and it wears really well. However, just a heads up on one thing. When you buy a watch from Jomashop, you do not get the manufacturer warranty card. Something to do with them being a grey market seller (meaning they don’t get the watches straight from Seiko). It’s not big deal. Jomashop has their own warranty. However I just wanted to pass this information along so others don’t have to figure it out on their own.

Seiko SNZG11J1 Review
This automatic (mechanical self-wind) watch is great value for money compared to expensive "Swiss Made" automatics. Seiko are well known for produce outstanding quality watches and this is no exception. I have been using this watch for 4 weeks and it keeps excellent time (2-3 seconds fast / 4-5 days - naturally adjustable). It has a see-through back so you can check the movement. There is no manually wind or hack feature (the watch does not stop when you pull out the crown). Once worn for a day, you can take the watch off and it's still running 24 hours later without being moved. On the second day of no movement it stops but this is to be expected of automatic watches (no batteries required). You can set the day to Arabic or English (instructions included). The strap is 22mm wide.A majority of the "Seiko 5" watches have the automatic 7S26B "21 Jewel" movement (like the "SNK807K2") but I wanted to go with the Japanese made version. After reading a lot about the "7S26 vs. 7S36" movements on the net, it's hard to say if the average consumer will ever know the difference. Compared to the very similar half-priced SNK807K2, I prefer the SNZG11J1 model because:1) I prefer the larger hour number labels on the dial, rather than the minute number labels being larger.2) Hands & hour markers are larger with more luminescent paint which I can still read very well after 7 hours in the dark!3) I like the wider strap which appears to be of better quality.4) I prefer the "23 Jewel" 7S36B movement over the "21 Jewel" 7S26B movement (different factories but, this may be of little importance as they both come under Seiko quality control).5) 100 meter vs. 30 meter water resistant => BIG difference!6) The SNK807K2 appears to be too small.Over all I am very happy with my purchase and Amazon's huge selection. It's my new "every day" watch and I am really pleased with how easy it is to read. To digress a bit, in reviewing 100s and 100s of watches online, I concluded, if I had to do a "double take" to see/find the hour-minute hands I should just passed it by (no matter how groovy). While I really like the Aviator style watches, if I have to strain my eyes to find the hands then it distracts from its most important purpose. In other words, I want to read the time in less than 300 milliseconds (at a glance) which is much faster than digging out a mobile phone. I stopped wearing watches years ago under the cool assumption that "hea, I've got the time right here on my mobile". I finally got wise that usually when I need to know the time, I'm in a bit of a hurry and don't want to dig for it. This watch meets my needs: it's reliable, accurate and I can read it very quickly! Hope this helps.

Bello bello bello!

Quality watch for a good price
The watchs' armband is comfortable and easy to open & close. Setting the day/date is easy as well . The automatic system makes me independent of battery life. That's important for me on long trips.
