Effective, Natural, and Easy to Use
Iโve been using the Wondercide Flea and Tick Spray Concentrate for Yard and Garden for a few weeks now, and Iโm genuinely impressed with the results. We had a noticeable flea issue in the backyard, especially around shaded areas where our dog likes to hang out. After applying this concentrate as directed, I started seeing a reduction in activity within just a couple of days. One of the biggest selling points for me is that it uses natural essential oils instead of harsh chemicals. It gives me peace of mind knowing itโs safer for pets, kids, and pollinators compared to traditional pesticides. The cedar oil scent is strong right after spraying, but it fades fairly quickly and isnโt unpleasant. Mixing the concentrate was straightforward, and it worked well with my standard garden sprayer. Coverage is solid, and a little goes a long way, which makes it more cost-effective than I initially expected. The only minor downside is that in heavily infested areas, a second application may be needed after heavy rain or a couple of weeks. But that seems reasonable for a natural product. Overall, this is a great option if you want an effective, plant-based solution for fleas and ticks without resorting to harsh chemicals. Iโll definitely keep using it throughout the warmer months.

Our problem is ticks
Living in northern California near the sierras, we have a regular problem with ticks, almost year round. We do not have fleas, and mosquito issues are tolerable, so our only concern was tick control. One of our dogs got anaplasmosis a few years ago, despite being on a tick control product for dogs. This season (Fall), our current dog was coming in from short potty breaks with a tick crawling on him daily. He once came in from walking through brush with 7 ticks crawling on his legs. It was time to do something. We had the yard sprayed professionally 3 years ago after our last dog got sick. But I did not want to continue damaging the environment for the pollinators. When searching for products, I kept seeing Wondercide. My expectations were low - really low - for this product to work as claimed. But we decided it couldn't hurt to try. We purchased the refill concentrate bottle, as our past experience with other products that dilute while spraying with a hose attached have been poor. We used a hand pumped garden sprayer to dilute and apply the product. We immediately stopped seeing ticks come in on the dogs. The product says to reapply after a month, which we did. This was exactly when we started to see ticks again, and they again disappeared after the second application. I am blown away when a product does what it says and is safe to use around people, pets, and pollinators. The scent is pleasant, not overly strong and it dissipates, something I was also concerned about. I am really impressed by this and will continue to use. If you have a tick problem, don't hesitate to try it, and be aware that reapplication is necessary. I wish we had tried it sooner.

Generally Effective and Safe For Cats
This is a review for the wondercide concentrate 16 oz (cedarwood original scent). Below this list of pros and cons I provide a more in depth review. Pros: - easy to use - leaves a mild cedarwood scent - does not affect butterfly or bee population in the yard - safe for cats - great for repelling mosquitoes Cons: - small quantity - only does a decent job of repelling the American dog tick - washes away in the rain so reapplication required after rain Context of my situation: I live in the northeastern region of the US. My house is next to small patch of woods that borders multiple houses. My home is fenced in but rabbits, mice, and birds live around my property and come by and they bring ticks with them. The American dog tick activity in my yard is the main reason I purchased this product. In Depth Review: After spraying my yard twice (in a span of two days), I have noticed that mosquito activity at night in my yard has dramatically decreased. I used to get a decent amount of mosquito bites at night, but treating the yard with this spray has dealt with that problem. As a bonus, I still see beneficial bug activity in my yard like bees and butterflies. The spray also leaves the yard with a mild and pleasant cedarwood scent. I also have cats that wander in the yard (they donโt go beyond the fence so they donโt bring in ticks from the outside) and I have taken them out moments after finishing spraying and they havenโt had any adverse experiences with a recently treated yard. Iโve done this for at least 2 summers, so I can say that with the proper dilution, wondercide has not harmed my cats. Speaking of dilution, this is one of the weaknesses of the product. The instructions on the bottle are very small and can be difficult to read. For a quick guide to those that need it, you need to mix 10 oz of the concentrate with 22 oz warm water then mix until it becomes a white liquid. Since this is a 16 oz bottle, you donโt even get 2 whole mixes out of this thing. I make it stretch by mixing 8 oz concentrate with 18 oz water (this maintains the ratio and letโs me get two mixes out of it). I generally pour the concentrate and then the water into the yard spray bottle I had (the 32 oz yard spray with attachment) and shake the bottle before attaching the hose and spraying. To be fair, I have a small to medium sized yard and each dilution lasts about 6-8 treatments, so about 12-16 treatments in total per bottle of concentrate. This lasts maybe a month or two depending on the rain and tick activity in my yard. You need to reapply this after rain l, so rainy weeks and months can mean lots of use. Tick activity in my yard also influences how I use this spray. Sometimes 2 consecutive days of spraying are good, but if I see continued tick activity, I go for 3 or sometimes 4 consecutive days of spraying. Speaking of tick activity, the spray does only a decent job of repelling the American dog tick. I have personally seen this species of tick flee my yard after application. However, I have also found ticks in my yard, the day following a second application. To be fair, I find the ticks in areas near the edge of my yard, particularly near shrubbery, tall grasses and areas of high animal traffic like the bird feeders. I suspect the ticks got there by a hitching a ride on the animals that like to go in those areas. So this spray does not completely eliminate the tick issue. I havenโt had any fleas or deer ticks on my cats or in the yard so maybe this has helped repel them, but then again it may be because those critters donโt generally come into my area. My final verdict: Wondercide is good for deterring mosquitoes and generally (but not always) repels the American dog tick. As a bonus, it does not seem negatively impact butterfly or bee activity and seems to be safe around cats. It is easy to dilute and easy to apply to the yard, but I wish there was a better price to concentrate volume ratio. I would recommend this to anyone who wants to control pest activity in their yard with something pet and bee friendly.

It's just...okay
It's okay. It is reassuring that it is 100% natural and you don't have to be as worried about inhalation or skin contact hazards as you do with the gnarly pesticides. The downside to this product (as is the unfortunate case with most natural products) - it doesn't really work all that well. I wish I could say it transformed my yard into a mosquito-free haven, but it didn't. I would be thrilled even if it only reduced the mosquito population by 20%, but it doesn't. The truth is it appears to be effective for about 1-2 hours and then the mosquitos are back with a vengeance. I wanted to like this product, but I am back to using the gnarly nasty chemicals because they actually work...I might grow a third arm here soon, but at least I won't get mosquito bites. Unfortunately it's a pass on the Wondercide.
