Maytag M1200 Upright Vacuum Cleaner

This vacuum cleaner works incredibly well--on a wood floor, it gets ALL the dust up, so that when you mop afterwards, you aren't picking up lots of leftover dirt muddying up the mop and smearing the floor. Same great job on carpeting. Glad I bought this one, it will last for many years.

The hose broke right away. We returned it multiple times - it does not work well - the $100 walmart Pethair vacuum is much better.

Love the power of this vacuum. However the 5 year warranty is useless as the toll free number is out of service, the contact us page never gets answered. I need a new hose and cannot even find replacement parts on the internet.

This vacuum cleans very well. The difficult part is that it is so heavy. It is almost too heavy to carry up and down steps. If you have weak arms, wrists or shoulders look for a lighter vacuum. Not good for senior citizens.

Best machine I've ever used on carpet. Be careful on fringes, as the rollers could wear them down quickly (as with most machines). Since it's heavy, using it on stairs can be tricky, but the attachment hose is quite long. I can do half the staircase with the machine sitting on top, then the other half with the machine sitting on the bottom level. It's strong enough to roll over hardwood and still pick up dust and dog hair.

This vacuum is remarkable. Quiet, powerful, easy to use and excellent cleaning!

This vacuum is a big disappointment. It started out great, but has resulted in two to three trips per year to the repair shop. When it works, it is great, but use it two to three times, then it is back to the shop. The suction power diminishes when the bag is less than 1/2 full. The rug cleaning mode fails, it clogs easily and cannot handle being used weekly to clean a 3000 sq. ft house with pets. It is heavy and difficult to maneuver on stairs. I had hoped this would have been the last vacuum purchase with all the good reviews, but the truth is I was better off with a cheaper wind tunnel. It worked and did not spend so much time in the shop. Whenever I need this vacuum, it fails.

We have been using our new vacuum for a few months now, and were are THRILLED with how it cleans our floors. We have owned a number of different vacuum brands over the years, most recently a Dyson, and this machine runs circles around the Dyson Animal. Our carpets and wood floors are always clean after running the Maytag, and it doesn't have the clogs we experienced when using a Dyson. The only drawback we found is the dial to adjust the vacuum height is difficult to adjust, but since all of our carpets are the same level, we haven't had to use that feature. There is an easy-to-use carpet button on the handle that turns the brush on or off, so it is very easy to take care of every room in the house. Highly recommended!
