Sisterhood of the Spectrum

Well written for teens or adults.
This book is a fast read. You can easily skip around to parts you need. It covers everything and more about the high functioning autistic (formerly known as Aspberger’s) gal. Most importantly it sheds light on the mystery of « pink flags » and the late diagnosis adolescent female.I ordered 6 books and this was most useful!

Good book for any gals out there wondering if they might have Aspergers.
I am so glad I got this book. More then one I was able to say "omg it's like she KNOWS me personally!" For those of you gals out there wondering if you might be an Aspie too this is a great book to start with. Not everything she said fit exactly but that's to be expected as we are all different people. For sure she covers enough experiences to be able to liken something she says to you if you are indeed also an Aspie gal. Males and females really do "look" different in their Autistic traits and that's an important factor to take in when self reflecting and this book really helped me see that. The writing style was smooth and well formed. I am already planning to buy another book from this author soon.

Excellent resource!
This book is wonderful. I bought it for my asperger girl daughter (17) but read it first myself. Highly recommend it and am going to look for the others she's written. I wish someone had given ME this book years ago when I was in high schooler! It is easy to read and full of great suggestions and examples of how a girl can empower herself and feel good about who she is... While she continues to discover who she is. Any girl on the spectrum, and her loved ones, will benefit from this book.

Keep looking
In my quest to find a book for my 17 yr old to identify with other girls who struggle with Aspergers, I ordered this. The title and description promised to be just what I was looking for. It is not. I would strongly hesitate to hand this over to any AS girl. I feel the author definitely displays her aspergers in full force in her writing. Yes, she does mention each girl on the spectrum is different, but her focus is only on one type. Her type. Or A type. What about AS girls who aren't strong in academics? Who nothing comes easy for? Who lack performing talents? Who are introverted and struggle with conversation? Who don't have drive or passion to accomplish goals, but instead feel overwhelmed when faced with choices? The ones whose fear of failing is so real, that they beat themselves down without ever trying? The quiet, kind, non athletic, and clumsy type? Sisterhood? No. Sisterhood means room for all women. This reads more like a sorority for the talented, high achieving, popular, pretty, spoiled, tactless, rich girl blessed with every opportunity. How is a girl who isn't those things suppose to relate and feel included?1 star for the illustrations and easy to read style.I'll keep looking.

Very good
Grateful for this book. Our family is enjoying these pages. The book took awhile to get here, although we are happy with it and the process. Would do it again.

Awesome book for any girl/woman on the spectrum or if ...
Awesome book for any girl/woman on the spectrum or if you know a girl on the spectrum, or.... lost that thought must be my Aspie mind. This book is full of "girl power" and allows the reader to realize that she is not alone and that she is uniquely special just the way she is. I really liked the way that it was laid out and easy to read. I have recommended it to all of my autism groups.

Not relatable
Not a fan. We’ve had the book for three years now. I actually bought two, one for my daughter and one for me. She was twelve when we first got them and fifteen now. She did not relate to the book at all. We just recently picked up the book, and it’s still not relatable to her at all.

I love this book! Wish I had read it 20 years ago
I wish I had read this book as a young girl, would have saved me a lot of trouble. This is one of those books that you read and think "oh my god where has this book been all of my life?" It is written so accessibly, the author is funny and so very relatable. I think every girl/woman should read this book, not just aspies. There is wonderful, real advice and strategies for dealing with "mean girl" behaviour and none of it is wishy washy "turn the other cheek" advice that sounds good but is basically useless. I actually bought this book for my 11 year old daughter who is newly diagnosed as ADD, but I read it first to make sure there was nothing over her head that would require my guidance. I am so glad I did, I got more out of this book than probably any other that I have ever read, ever. The chapter on Romeo and Juliet is my absolute favorite. Where oh where was this book when I was growing up -- doesn't matter, just glad my daughter will have it to help her navigate the next few years of teenagerdom and for the rest of her life.

Essential reading for everyone
Easy to read, honest and accessible. Feels like you have someone with experience offering you a viewpoint that helps to make sense of stuff that often doesn’t make sense. Empowering and positive -
