MASK REVIEW: I absolutely love and adore these masks. 100% worth every penny! They actually fit my face and are *incredibly* comfortable. (I make a few adjustments that I explain down below, but those are purely picky preference.) They soak up a crazy amount of oils and essence to release back into your skin once the masks are setting properly. They are incredibly comfortable, lightweight, and breathable. (Sometimes I have felt a little bit suffocated or trapped or something under a mask which I know sounds silly, but I have never felt anything like that with these.) They are *so easy* to travel with! As someone who now travels from one coast of the US to the other, that is a big deal to me. I can bring over two week's worth of sheet masks (essences and mask tablets) in a single snack sized ziplock bag in my carryon. Bonkers.[Obviously within the quart-size liquids bag as per TSA requirements.] I can honestly say that this is one of the best skincare decisions that I made. If you are on the fence - try it. You can thank me later. ;P SAVING THE ESSENCE: The other way that I use these compressed masks is to make sure that I get every dollar worth out of my expensive, store bought sheet masks. When I use a prepackaged sheet mask (especially the more expensive ones) there is always a good amount of extra ampule. I put all of that extra essence into a little airtight container and save it for the next day - really pack all of those positive things into my skin. All that I do is open up my sheet mask tablet like normal (explained below) and soak it in the saved essense, then use it as usual. Most good prepackaged masks have easily enough essence for two sheet masks included. I would rather save the extra essence for a day so that it can actually be used on my skin once it has had a chance to recover and accept the treatment from the day before, than to pile it all on in one sitting and miss out on some of the benefits because my skin wasn't able to soak it all up and break it all down and use it to the best of its ability in one sitting. There is only so much that the skin can absorb and process. Anything after that point is basically just wasteful. HOW TO OPEN THE MASKS: When I was doing research I kept watching all of these youtubers who were saying that the product (general tablet/compressed sheet masks, not specifically this brand) were a complete dud, didn't work at all, and were a waste of time, money, and product. I wanted to throw my phone I was so frustrated. If you have a completely compressed tablet and you put it in a pile of "goop" (as my ex liked to call serums and essences), it isn't going to expand and open up. You need to give it straight moisture first and it would have opened right up! *sigh* WHAT I DO: I turn my water on as hot as I can stand it, put the tablet in the middle of my palm, and let some water into my cupped hand. I turn the tablet as needed and let it soak up the water. Once it is decompressed and in it's log stage, I carefully squeeze about 75% of the water back out of it. I do this by pinching it back down the way that it had just grown outward. (If you squeeze it the other way, it can sometimes be impossible to open the mask fully without ripping it. Learned that one the hard way.) I then carefully unfold the mask. They usually just unroll, and then fold out in thirds, and then up from being folded in half. You need to be a little bit patient with this process. These masks are amazingly light and breathable, but on the flipside that means that they are thin, and you can tear things if you get frustrated. (Plus side if that happens though - you have a ton more and can try again! ;P) Once the mask is open I make any modifications that I am going to make (described and explained below) and *then* I dunk the mask into the ampule/serum/essence/oil and move forward with my sheet mask. Ta-da! All-in-all it usually takes me significantly less than a minute to open up one of these sheet masks from tablet to being put into the essence. ANOTHER POSSIBLE WAY: I have heard of some people who will open the sheet mask tablets with various carrier oils, sometimes mixed down with a bit of water to make it more fluid. I haven't done this yet, but the three that I have heard of are as follows - women successfully using melted down cocnut oil, diluted vitamin E oil, and sweet almond/jojoba oil blend. I would image that doing things this way, should it actually work to open the tablet in the first place, would give you a bit more longevity for the mask. You would have a bit longer wear-life because the oils that you have used as a base disperse, dissolve, and evaporate slower than the water would. That said, I tend to get *at least* 25 to 30 minutes of wear-time with ampule to spare. Some blends are closer to 50+ minutes, and that's without wearing a silicone sheet mask cover. These masks really are amazing! THE "MODIFICATIONS": The one SUPER nit-picky "complaint" that I have about these sheet masks is that they have this eye flap thingy on them (as shown in picture). I have seen that before on other sheet masks, but it has usually been on the bottom of the eye hole (so you could just fold it down and ignore it if you didn't want to use it), not on the top part, falling down into your open eyeballs without warning. I can't stand those things, so once my sheet masks are open (but before I make them all slippery with the ampule), I simply rip those little dangling pieces off. They come off fairly easily, just take it slow and be careful. It feels exactly like tearing through thin cloth (probably because that's exactly what's actually happening). Sometimes I just throw them away, but other times I will put them into the ampule as well. My nose is a bit longer than basically every sheet mask I have ever tried, so I take those extra pieces and put them on the sides and tip of my nose where sheet masks just don't ever naturally hit. (As seen in the picture.) Let me know if this was helpful. These were the best priced I could find for the amount and had no bad reviews, so I added them onto my order. I am glad I did because I have been using the expensive Korean sheet masks and I cannot afford to use them as much as I'd like. Now I can use these as much as I need and I really like the customization available with these. It's nice not to feel like I am being price gouged for what is an inexpensive item to my mind. They're the size of a Tums antacid tablet, or a nickel, and individually wrapped which I really like for durability, cleanliness, portability and ease of storage. I am impressed with how quickly these expand; it's almost like wetting a compressed sponge where it happens instantly. They unravel easily with no tearing or difficulty opening up. I find they are a decent size and fit my Caucasian face fine. The eye and mouth holes are a bit large on me, but otherwise there is just enough mask to cover everything. I think the next time I fly by airplane, where I inevitably get parched skin, I will open one of these and give myself a soothing moisturizing treatment. Even if there is no liquid but water to use, I can slather on a cream moisturizer and put the damp mask over it. I have done that tonight and it really helps soothe the skin and let the cream penetrate better. So far, I've also used them with my skin serums, too, but I find unless I put a silicone face mask over them, the serum alone won't last long enough to work well in a sheet mask (unless I use a huge amount and that's cost prohibitive and wasteful). Soaking in a lotion works much better with these than a serum and of course, making your own concoction is really great. They do better with a solution with humectants or something viscous enough so the product won't evaporate too fast...if you want to keep it on for a longer time. That's why you often see the pre-packaged sheet masks with ingredient bases including glycerin. For a DIY mask, honey, aloe, colloidal oatmeal, mucilage from plantain herb, and if you can get them, sodium PCA and hyaluronic acid, all make great bases because they are humectant. Of course, adding oils will work, too. There are lots of site on the Net with recipes for DIY masks. Since these are one use, you can make a totally preservative free mask and use ingredients to treat whatever is happening at the time. I use my own blemish control recipe with these and it works great when I have spots coming on, better than over-the-counter products! I bought my masks from E-DISCOUNT but they were fulfilled by Amazon as an add-on, so they arrived quickly (another reason I went with this particular vendor because I don't relish waiting a month for things to arrive from overseas.) I was pleasantly surprised to find a free packet included of a sheet mask with it's own facial solution in it. I have not used this mask yet, but what a nice surprise to have that included for free (by the same company who made the compressed masks).

I use these masks with the leftover serums from prepackaged sheet masks since there is usually a good amount left. No tearing and there is the additional design that allows you to place them over your eyelids (but that is easily removable if you don't wish to use it). They are smaller than most prepackaged masks I have used so not as much coverage (and I have a very small face) which is a little disappointing. But for quick daily use, I am satisfied with the purchase.

I read the book "Japanese Skincare Revolution" and was fascinated by the idea of soaking my face with lotion using a cotton mask. Of course, being Japanese myself, I'm never surprised by the wacky yet innovative things my culture produces. Cotton face masks are just another one of those weird things that are ironically good for you. The idea is to take the mask, soak it with water and lotion, then place it on your face for 3-5 minutes to allow the lotion to saturate your skin. Just slathering on lotion means it could dry on the surface. The analogy they used is "dripping water on paper means it takes a while to soak in, but putting a wet paper towel on paper soaks it in almost immediately." Makes sense. PROS: - super easy to use - perfect size for women (might be a tiny bit small for men) - cutout breathing holes and eyeholes with optional flap in case you want full coverage (close your eyes and relax) - soft cotton "paper" (not really like paper, like super plush paper towels mixed with cotton balls) - comes in easy "candy wrappers" so you don't have to peel apart the masks - doesn't rip or wrinkle or snag - super affordable and easier/cheaper than buying cotton squares and peeling them to stick on your face - leaves behind NO cotton residue (which drives me nuts) CONS: - ummmm.......none. I really can't think of any. They do exactly what you need them to do. OVERALL: What a great idea! Makes my bathroom routine a piece of cake! You just plop the little paper tablet into a cereal bowl of water and presto! The cotton mask unfolds itself and you can use it. You get 100, so that's about 3 months worth if you use it daily (I slack off sometimes). These are so fun, that I want to give them out as gifts. So funny!

I love using these compressed facial masks to create my own mask treatments. They fit the face well and are soft and absorbent. I like to use a silicone mask on top to hold in all the moisture for a longer period of time. I don't love the little flops on the eyelids, but those are easily moved out of the way.

My face is neither particularly large nor small—it’s average sized, but this mask is too small to cover my entire face. It’s a plus that it didn’t cause any skin irritations, but the uncovered parts of my face end up drying out during the pack.

I place one of these in a sake cup and drizzle a little distilled water on it and allow it to inflate. Then I gently unwrap it and place it over my face after slathering my skin in a serum. The eyelid pieces would be nice if I were to lie down, but I tear them off and place them beneath my eyes. Less packaging and waste than regular masks, and these can be composted. I like that.

They sell masks like these at the local Face Shop that are already soaked in product for about $2 each. These paper masks really help with the absorption of toners, moisturizers and liquid or cream face masks. I actually sat down and counted the masks in this pack because I was super bored. I got about 96 normal sized one (about the size of a dime) and then I got one super huge one and I have no idea what it is. You don't need a lot of product to hydrate these mask, as soon as they get wet they like explode to full size. So far, I've only used a couple with toner but they're great and I'll order them again. If you follow the typical "Korean" skin care routine of two face masks a week they'll last you a whole year for $5 which is an amazing value, especially if you make your own cream or vitamin masks to avoid chemicals.

It fits, but cannot cover the nose area well. If you have a high/big nose, be aware of this. Also, the quality is on average, I didn't notice any strange smell, but it is not on the best quality as well since it is very thin... So basically you got what you've paid for
