Impressive jacket
I did not have very high hopes when ordering this. Getting a jacket that is not only totally waterproof, but also breathable and looks good, is a very tall order. I am happy to say that I'm pretty well pleased and surprised. The fit is somehow sporty in my opinion, but roomy enough for you to throw on a few additional shirts or a sweater undearneath for the colder months.Gore tex fabric is definitely living up to the hype; nothing gets in, sweat goes out if you don't have too many under layers in the way.I have the yellow accented version; while the yellow does get a little dirty, it is thankfully also waterproof. I was worried that just the black sections would be GT, but the whole thing is in fact GT.Pocket in the back is useful if you're going on longer rides in wet weather, but you can just leave it be for commuting around town and this jacket works well for that too.Back has an extended cut, similar to most cycling jerseys, to better stick to you when arched on the bike.12/19/16 Update : Jacket is still impressive. Even though it does wet out over longer rides, water does not penetrate, though maybe the outside gets a bit clammy. Remedied with a good mid-layer jacket.I discovered two bonuses; one, the rear pocket is actually large enough to be used as a stuff sack for the jacket. Two, the rear pocket is actually big enough to fit my Onguard Brute Mini u-lock AND a cable tucked behind it. I actually can forgo a small messenger bag for runs around town with this jacket!10/1/17 Update : Jacket still works fine. Has a very small rip in the cuff, not too huge of an issue so far. I've become more informed in Gore Tex fabrics lately, I did not realize this was GTX Active starting off. It does breathe well, never felt like I was trapped in a plastic bag with it on, though it's definitely not the most breathable thing in the world. No water has ever gotten in though. The fabric is fairly durable for GTX Active. I didn't know anything about DWR treatment until this point; the black parts still bead water off like the first day I got it, but the yellow portions have suffered a bit. Running it through two washes of Granger's Wash (I'd been using just regular detergent up till now, tsk) cleaned up the yellow portions, and a spray of Granger's Repel + 20 minutes in the dryer revived the yellow parts a bit. Would advise new users to definitely do proper DWR care of the garment, it's worth it, and I've screwed up my copy a bit because I didn't do that.

Dry
Wore the jacket in a light rain and stayed perfectly dry. The fit is good and not too tight. The sleeves are tad long but not a big deal. The rear pocket is nice but can be difficult to reach. Overall, did its job and kept me dry.

Good for cool and cold weather rain.
Great for what it is. I wanted Gore-Tex because it is the best balance of breathing and longevity- I read that ShowersPass breathes better at first but doesn't hold up over the years. This jacket fits better than most cycling jackets while just walking around, but the compromise there is that it has some extra material out front in position on the bike. Doesn't bother me. It seems very still and slick in the wind - little/no extra drag - so I guess it is form fitting enough. It breathes like GoreTex does - fine for endurance level exertion or in the cold. But when you turn up the heat - internal or external - I wish for more airflow. That's just the nature of the beast. If you know what you are getting into, I'd say this jacket is a great buy for the price. I am 193cm 82kg and the Large is spot-on.

Repels water and transfers vapor like a champion!
I needed a rain jacket for fall since there is no need to use one in the summer when you can get more wet on the inside of the jacket than out, this jacket has a semi-fit cut, I was able to get a light wool long sleeve jersey and a long sleeve undershirt with room for movement on a size XL, the Goretex Active membrane breaths amazingly compared to any other waterproof technology including the more expensive membranes like Goretex Pro Shell, the Active membrane is more effective on the way it transfers vapor to the outside, on a soggy night around 47 F. degrees with light rain, the jacket kept me comfortable, if I got over heated just open the front and back zipper and it creates an awesome tunnel effect through the jacket that cools your body perfectly, it only has one rear pocket with a really cool ziplock baggy for your cellphone that attaches to the jacket it self, in all it is a minimalist jacket that does its job well.

Best rain jacket I've ever worn
Best rain jacket I've ever worn. Just finished a road test in the Virginia mountains riding a century (10,000 feet and seven hours) in rainy, cold weather in the low 40's. I'm 185, 5'10" with a 42 chest and 34 waist and the large fits snugly, while allowing plenty of unrestricted movement on the bike and nothing to flap around in the wind. Wore an Under Armour base layer and bike jersey and the jacket breathed ok on the climbs (I rode with the zipper half way when the rain was more of a drizzle. When the rain picked up, the jacket kept my core warm and dry for hours.Back pocket is generous enough.Highly recommend this jacket for riding in cold rain.

GORE~geous ....
Fab~tastic product, slightly baffling at first exactly what you get for your money as its very lightweight thin shell jacket but after a few rides in cooler wet conditions it proves it value. Highly breathable, waterproof and windproof riding in 48 degree 10 mph winds in NorCal this winter. I'm a 6' 2" 180Ib guy and I wear the large size over a base layer and a medium breathable jacket. Build quality is excellent with sealed zippers and longer sleeves fitted with Velcro closing to clamp around the gloves. Purchased on Amazon for around $160 ...not sure I would have paid $250 as shown on the Gore website but at this price its a must if you ride in wet & windy conditions.

Get sizing right before you order
This is a great product. It's my first Gore product and I am 100% satisfied.I have read many reviews and it does fit somewhat small. I bought both size L and XL. I returned the XL.My wait is 33'', chest is 43'' with 33'' sleeve length. I can wear a base layer with a thick(er) long sleeve jersey and stuff all 3 back pockets (with 2 cliff bars, spare tube, mini pump, flat repair kit, wallet, phone) and the jacket still fits me The sleeves are a bit long (I am not complaining).

Very good - but too short at the back
I'm 6ft 5 and got the xxl. The arm length and body circumference are spot on, but I find it too short on the back so it doesn't give enough spray protection which is frustrating. It's a shame as everything else is spot on. 100% waterproof (tested on 50 mile ride when it literally didn't stop raining the whole way!) comfortable, really breathable and nicely cut. Simple, not over designed, easy to pack (small enough to pack into a jersey pocket). Just a shame about the length at the back....

Occasional use only
Good quality, light weight. However it looks like it will lose its waterproof lining after a few more uses as it gets folded away and opened out again.

Just awesome
Really great quality, was caught in summer monsoon (typical UK downpour) and I was bone dry! I have bought so many different jackets in the past and just wish I had invested in a Gore jacket before now! They're expensive but if I added all of the cheaper ones up that I own it would work out more cost effective.
