Works great with ProClip Vehicle Specific Mounts but are much more adjustable!
I just purchased three of these for my three automobiles. I already owned the rather expensive ProClip brand combo solutions (both a custom vehicle mount and a custom phone holder), and I really like the ProClip solution, but (1) It's ridiculously expensive and (2) It only allows one phone to be used. I share cars with my wife and two newly driving sons, and the four of us each own a (very) different phone. So the rest of my family has to stare at (but not use) a custom phone mount for my Nexus 6 phone while their phones occupy a cupholder or slide around on the dashboard, etc. Not anymore! The good news is that my ProClip investment isn't a total waste because the I can still use the custom vehicle mounts with this Arkon phone holder. In fact, I'm using the identical screw holes and even the same screws (rather than the included bolts and nuts which can loosen). Arkon used to be my go-to phone mount, and I used to use their extra long gooseneck model that attached to the bolts on the seat base. Like ProClip, Arkon used to make phone model specific holders (I had one for my Palm Treo 755p phone), but thankfully this one is universal/generic, and can hold a wide size range of phones. Now whoever in my family is driving the cars can use the phone mount. It's very easy to use this phone holder, and for most phones you can put the phone in it with one hand/motion. With my huge Nexus 6 phone, the sliding clamp is pretty much at the limit, so in order to avoid stress on the ball joint, I usually put my phone in the holder using two hands. I've read several reviews that the ball joint on this holder eventually becomes loose and cannot be tightened down, so I'm being careful to not adjust/move the holder position much while the ball joint is tightened. The holder "prongs" are so small that it should be possible to hold any phone regardless of the position of the buttons on the sides of the phone. The "prongs" also are rubberized so they grip even a caseless phone very well. Time will tell how long it lasts (especially the ball joint), but so far I really like it. It's a much better (and way cheaper) solution than ProClip's, which makes you choose a specific phone model or at least a rather specific phone size that cannot vary much and isn't adjustable on the fly for using other phones. I still think the ProClip vehicle specific mounts are the best thing going, but this Arkon phone holder is the best phone holder going (at least for me) to install on the ProClip vehicle specific mounts.

Very elegant solution, especially for Pro-Clip users
Update: I've been using this for over 6 months and am pretty happy with it. I have it mounted to a Pro-Clip in a '13 GTI. It blends in nicely and works great. I mentioned previously that I wanted a simple one hand solution. The trick to accomplish that with this holder is to add some sort of spacer to make the minimum closed width just narrower than your phone. For mine, it was a strip of 3/4" double sided Velcro wrapped around the metal slide rods. I find tuned it by trimming the Velcro a little narrower. My original review: As other have said, it fits the Pro-Clip base (AMPS hole pattern). I didn't consider the Pro-Clip phone grip options for several reasons- one of which is price. But more importantly, they didn't offer one that would work with a case, which in this day and age just seems silly. I previously used an X-Grip from RAM. I'm a fan of RAM's industrial strength quality, but was looking for something I could mount my phone in one handed. Well, this isn't it. The ball clamp on that little 17mm ball isn't strong enough to resist the spring force of the clamping mechanism. You really have to hold it with one hand and either pull the right side out, or shove your phone against it until it fits. What it is however, is very slick, and right to the point. I love the clean lines and overall simplicity. It really looks and functions (despite the two-handedness) exactly as it should. Extra points for including a little cable holder for your phone charging cable! I'd probably go back to the X-Grip (which I did manage to modify with a zip tie which allows careful one-handed mounting, but this thing honestly looks SO much better- with or without the phone. I'm aware the iOttie grip is truly one-handed. I've put them in two other cars, but they just don't look as good as this does. This one also feels like it is made of better materials. This Arkon grip would be absolutely perfect IMHO if it had a similar mechanism...

Simple, effective design for shallow case phones; problematic for "thick" cases.
Simple, effective design for smart phones. It accommodates large phones (I'm using a iphone 8 plus) which is why I bought it. Only one side of the "gripping arms" actually moves, and the spring is pretty stiff which provides strength to hold the heavier large phones. Because of the stiffness, it puts a good amount of pressure on the Arkon mount itself. Since I know in my (Subaru) the Arkon base is held on by a metal screw on a plastic hole, I'm concerned that constantly pushing on this will wear out the mount's anchor point. The result is I have to use two hands to insert the phone on the mount to brace the base. So it is not "one handed" as I had hoped. My other problem is the mount's "short" arms. I had switched to a phone case that has a credit card holder in the back... which effectively doubles the thickness of my "phone". The 2 arms are actually only half as long as they appear to be. The rest of the arm is just soft, pliable rubber. This is fine for a normal phone in case. But for my thicker case, (which pushes my phone away from the holder) causes it to go in the soft arm area... and the mount often loses grip while I'm driving.... resulting in the phone suddenly falling out. I wish the arms had more reinforcement all the way to the end of the arm so that it would grip my thicker case and hold it secure. Bottom line: great Arkon accessory that works well if you do NOT have a thick case.

Works well with Iphone X. Attached easily to ProClip Usa mount.
I have a ProClip USA mount on my car vent. The old holder does not fit my Iphone X. I was hesitant to purchase this clip but it is so much cheaper than the Pro Clip USA holder. It installed easily onto the ProClip mount, I was able to just screw it into the existing holes. Others have mentioned they had difficulty with the adjustable part of the holder being the right hand side. I do not have a problem with it at all. It goes in easily and comes off easily. It is possible that I use two hands for it most of the time. Still don't find that a problem. It swivels well, holds firmly and I like that it can accommodate different phones. Happy with my purchase - so far.

Solid
Works really great. I use it with the (ridiculous) special dash mount I bought for my 2015 Subaru Impreza (the ONLY one that clips into the dash without obstructing the driver's view or the media display). I didn't like any of the options they had for actually holding the phone, so bought this, which lines up perfectly with the pre-drilled holes in the mount. The phone feels secure and and the spring feels strong. I've been using it daily for about 6 months. The only thing I would change is the natural direction of the opening. For some reason it feels really unnatural for me to push open to the right. The phone mount for my old car opened to the left (toward the driver), so maybe a muscle memory thing? Anyway, I just rotated the phone holder 180 degrees so now it opens to the left. Voila!

Great mount for the price โ sturdy, versatile, and holds my phone rock-solid!
I went with the adhesive base for easy install on my dashboard โ stuck like glue after cleaning the surface, no drilling needed, and it hasn't budged even on bumpy roads. The mount itself is solid with a strong spring-loaded cradle that grips my phone (with or without case) securely โ no wobbling, no slipping at highway speeds or sharp turns. Adjustable ball joint lets you angle it perfectly for navigation or calls.

Great mount in my semi truck

Holds hone well
Works well, however, I wasn't able to tighten the swivel tight enough, so I need to use 2 hands to insert the phone, otherwise it swivels.

Clean FInish
I use this on a "ProClip Center mount for Ford Focus 11-14" and it works really well. Needed to drill 4 holes in my brodit clip but the finish is really good and it looks almost OEM.
