That is the part of your feet which is deployed on the pedal-axle when you are cycling.The back-foot/heel is comfortable. The sole is solid but gets a bit slippery if you try to walk on tiled surfaces.The pocket on the upper side of the tongue is useful to tuck in the laces.There is netting in the front end of the shoe which allows air circulation, but it is a bit stuffy on the back-end and I felt a bit stuffy. On this aspect, I have to be honest that this are my first proper biking shoes and I am benchmarking against my running shoes like ASICs, New Balance & Vibrams for the aspects like breathability, fit, etc. But my guess is that it should not be markedly different except for the aspect of sole solidness needed for biking for maximum power transfer unlike running where you want more flexible soles.The Shimano SM-SH56 SPD Cleats that I got separately fitted quiet well and I tested them out in the gym for spinning.Like MTB cleats their placement is recessed and hence you can walk around with it with reasonable comfort as there is no protrusion.I am just hoping that the front side loosens out a bit with use. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ 5.0 out of 5 stars I love these things! *by F***X on Reviewed in the United States on May 30, 2014* Just what the doctor ordered, literally. I have a Morton's Neuroma in my right foot and finding cycling shoes that don't irritate it on long rides is a major pain.I'm a recreational rider and occasional commuter. I ride about 130 miles a week during the warmer months, so my shoes get a workout. I found the fit to be fine for my shoe size. I have a fairly wide foot (size 11), and a very high instep. In the cleat style shoes a 46 works for the length, but i have challenges with the tongue being too narrow on those so I don't wear them. Because of the other reviews saying these run small, I ordered a 47, and fine that there is more than enough room, but if I lace them up tight they are snug. They handle my wide foot and high instep like champs. I could have probably lived with a 46 based on the fit of these 47s, but laced up snugly these fit well. Hopefully they won't stretch much.I love the sole (pattern and material), and the esthetics of the shoe. I was looking for something that didn't look obnoxious when I get off the bike and go for coffee or a lunch somewhere (cleats are completely unsuitable for this). I was seeking a casual shoe that didn't look obvously like a 'cycling shoe' that I could walk around in normally.These fit the bill perfectly. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ 5.0 out of 5 stars fresh and comfortable shoes, go 2 number higher *by C***O on Reviewed in the United States on December 24, 2015* I commute every day to work with these, bought them 4 month ago and I ride 10km for about 30 minutes each trip.I'm 41.5 and these are 43 so you have to go at least 2 numbers higher than you normally do.At first they fit very narrow but they get loose and comfortable as you use them.
