I'm a definite fan of Lamy Studio and Lamy fountain pens in general
If you have any experience with any Lamy fountain pens, you know what you are going to get. A great writer right out of the box. I love the Lamy Studio because it is a nice hefty weight in the hand. Weightier than the Al-Star, obviously heavier than the Lamy Safari. I'm much more of a medium nib fan but the EF nib on this fountain pen is perfectly acceptable. With the heft of the body it just flies across the paper. I love it. Another great feature about Lamy pens is that the nibs are interchangeable between the Studio, Al-Star, and the Safari. And since I have all three in different nib sizes and a couple broad nibs I bought seperately, whatever one of these Lamy's I have inked up at the time depending on my mood I'll switch out nibs for whatever I'm feeling that day and depending what ink I'm using. The Studio is a step up in price from the Safari and Al-Star but I definitely think its worth the price of admission...until you can save up for the Lamy 2000. Still, if you are completely happy with your Al-Star or Safari, those are great writing fountain pens so keep on writing.

The studio
When I learn to write in elementary school we used fountain pens and once I got the hang of it I really enjoy it. when I learn to write in elementary school we used fountain pens and once I got the hang of it I really enjoy it The practicality of caring around a bottle of ink in order to refill the pen is obvious. I later discovered the fact that they are now making ink refills that you could just slide it in the pan and off you go. It’s been a few years since I was in elementary school and a lot of things have changed to the general Penn market but I still like using a fountain pen when I can. I think a lot of people got turned off because of the ink that you might get on your fingers when you filled it up but when A Fountain pen is tuned to its prime there’s nothing better to write with it just slides across the page. The Lamy pen Company is based in Germany and they make some very good pans. For those just entering into the fountain pen experience you might want to try a safari pen by Lamy. But if you take it up a notch and get this Lamy studio pen you will notice a very smooth writing non-scratchy even on notebook paper pen. The way this pen feels compared to Safari is quite a lot better. This studio can run you anywhere from 79 may be down to $59 but the writing is far more superior. So if you have the extra bucks on hand and want to try a really great writing pen get this Lamy studio fountain pen. Make sure you pick up an ink converter to go inside your pen so you can load it from a standard ink bottle or just buy some Lamy in cartridges .

A great fountain pen
I have enjoyed working with this particular fountain pen is very reasonably priced and high quality NZ fine chip I use works well. As an oil painter artist I write in my art journals, continuously making notes and tables and all kinds of data documentation and it's really an excellent tool. I utilize the ink cartridge that can be refilled over and over again. I also purchased from Amazon the high-quality Inc. that I use to write. They also make a throwaway small ink cartridge you can purchase however I have found although it's OK. I prefer to use the ink of my choice and is since I use and write a lot a little more economica refilling my own ink cartridge. I would recommend anyone that writes on fine paper and order light in my case art journals. It's an excellent pen for this application. I highly recommend. Many thanks, Jimmy Springett wildlife painter.

Cheap nib anchoring
I love the pen when it isn't broken. There are 2 small plastic fins on the tip that hold the nib in place. They keep breaking on me and the nib cannot anchor. This has happened with 2 of the pens. One happened only after 3 days of use after return. The cap does rattle a lot but does stay posted. Great looking but not helpful if the nib cannot stay on.

A tip-top everyday fountain pen.
In case you have the same question I had, it does come with a converter. I didn't know that and ended up ordering a second one. This is a beautiful pen. My EF nib is buttery smooth right out of the box, and I think the level of wetness is just right with the included cartridge. I've had it skip about one stroke per two sentences, but I'm giving it time before I hold that against it. Hopefully it won't continue. The weight is just right with the cap posted and it feels very comfortable in my hand (I have long fingers). My only complaint is that the lovely chrome barrel doesn't feel quite secure in my grip. The slightly textured body gives just enough friction to feel secure, but even though my fingers don't slip on the barrel, I frequently feel as though they're about to. I compensate for this by gripping the pen a quarter inch further up than I would otherwise, so I hold some of the body and some of the barrel together. It's still very comfortable and hasn't caused any problems. The cap pops on and off with a very pleasant feel and sound, and it posts securely, although it can be rotated with little force. The clip design is quite clever, as the rounded tip ensures that nothing snags when you clip it to something. (I occasionally have to fight with other pens to slide them into my jacket pocket.) Overall, an excellent every day fountain pen. It looks very handsome, but not overly fancy for every day use. The price and quality make it an excellent choice. It's a great writing experience when you don't need something ultra-premium.

Great pen, but NO INK or converter comes with it
Great pen, like other Lamy pens. Just purchased 4 for gifts. FYI, the description says it comes with blue ink, however, it DOES NOT COME WITH INK or a converter. Be sure to order LAMY cartridges or a bottle of ink and converter.

Simply classic!
This model of Lamy is unique in that it fills the space between the Safari and the 2000. It still has the modernity that Lamy designs are known for, but is more conventional or traditional without being too dated and boring. The nibs are pretty standard Lamy nibs so these write well. I thought EF would be too fine, but really there isn't much difference between a Lamy EF ad Lamy F.

Buyers beware: this does NOT come with ink cartridge or converter
The LAMY Studio Fountain Pen is fine, smooth writing and the finish is very beautiful. As much praise has already been said about the pen, I'd skip to the point. Unlike what other reviews or online information might have alluded to, my pen came without a converter or any ink cartridge. I'm unsure whether it was a packaging oversight or a change in what is shipped with the pen, but the bottom line is that I received a pen that I cannot use because this is my first LAMY pen and I don't have any ink cartridge / converter. That is, until I have searched around town to find some ink cartridges. The whole ordeal was very annoying, especially given that some has stated that it comes with a converter. I might have been the unlucky one, but do consider the possibility that you might have the same experience before buying here!

Joy of writing
Brilliant, no other word Exactly what I expected But the packing was quite ordinary, intact although, but the pen was wrapped in a simple card paper box. Considering that it’s import from the US, a better packing would have been better. Fortunately there was no damage. Another point, the pen is not shipped with any ink, neither cartridge nor a converter. Good that I had a spare cartridge- but have to spend again on either a cartridge or a converter. The Royal Blue is really Royal and looks great. It’s a heavy pen with a great grip and flawless flow of ink- a great joy. Last but not the least- Amazing AMAZON. As always guaranteed delivery before the expected date

Excellent
Fantastic built quality as we've come to expect from lamy, colour's a really nice deep blue and feels great in hand with its subtle texture. Would make for a great gift. By the way the box in the photo isn't the one you get but it's still quite good if you're considering this as a gift.

Extraordinaria pluma
Una de mis mejores adquisiciones. Extraordinario punto extra fino, que algunos podrían considerar como medio. Es usual con las plumas Lamy. Color de la pluma de los mejores. Alcancé un buen descuento

Great EF pen! Love it.
I have many fountain pens (including 10+ Lamy’s, with two versions of the Lamy 2000) and have held off on this one. Many of my collection are $$ but “meh” to write with. This is immediately one of my top 3 fountain pens because of the EF nib performance. Love the colour as well.
