They’re ice balls! What more can I say?! 😂They look fun in the glass and this mold is really easy to use and have them pop out.

I think I don't have the method perfected yet, but it works reasonably well for making ice spheres for mixed drinks I'd like to keep cold but not water down by adding multiple traditional ice cubes. Sometimes the seal of the two parts has overflow within the closed section of the tray and that may be due to not being clearly able to view when the water is close to the top of the fill hole. Since water expands when it turns to ice it may cause some split and slightly imperfect spheres for me-- a learning curve to get used to when preparing these ice spheres. They're easy to remove from the silicone ice ball maker which is a plus and even though I've had a bit of trouble perfecting the ice spheres I have managed to create usable pieces for mixed drinks. The unit definitely stays in place in the freezer so that I'm not worried about it tipping over while waiting for the water to chill before making a new set. For the price it's a good deal and is well made for the multiple times I've used it already.

This ice mold is very well made, not too flimsy and does hold the water once you fill it up. You will need to make sure it has a place to sit in your freezer where it will not spill. Once it is done, the ice molds pop right out and are ready for use! Perfect for summer and a very good price for the quality!

Following the instructions, it recommends that you fill the bottom half of the mold with water up to the top of the line on the bottom molds, which should be all you need. Didn’t make a whole lot of sense to me but I did that and aligned/put the top mold on top of the bottom mold, when I did that the water from the bottom mold did push the water up and filled the top mold to the top ice ball hole/nipple. Pretty cool how that worked. The only problem with that and I did not realize it until all my ice balls where done and I cracked them out of the mold. You will definitely have a ring around your ice spheres if you don’t make sure that when you do set that top mold down it needs to marry up with the bottom mold seams perfectly all the way around each of the individual 4 ice molds.Technically speaking the top and bottom molds has a tongue and grove indent (the seam) that when closed properly is supposed to snap flat and flush together to keep the water isolated and contained to each sphere when freezing, if these two pieces has a gap in it and not properly seated you will get that ring around your ice ball without fail. Found that out after all mines came out with that crazy size ring around them. I then realized that I didn’t make sure the two pieces was snapped securely together. BUT……….per instructions that is pretty hard to do when it is filled with water, there is a learning curve and process that goes with that.I recommend ditching the instructions and just do like I figured out how to fill these molds to get perfect round spheres, ring free. Now we are doing the opposite of what the instructions is telling you do. Take the two molds and put them together,( You’re doing this with NO WATER IN THEM) take your fingers and go around each of the four molds snapping them flat and flush, you should hear and feel it going flat as you go around each one. You should also see both bottom and top lips of the molds perfectly kissing each other with no raised portion on them all the way around the mold, if you seated each mold correctly. Take your water and fill up each of the four molds through the hole/nipple on the top, fill the water all the way until it just overflows out of the holes. Don’t worry about over spills in the tray until you filled up all four molds. If you care you can take your thumb and index finger from both hands and cover up all four holes at the same time and flip the mold over to drain out the overfill water in the tray before you stick it in the freeze, trust me you will not see any more or a whole lot of water in that tray when you take it back out the freezer. What you will have is a perfectly round (not deformed) ice balls, with no rings. ‘NO RINGS’.By the way I did use purified water (Dasani) for testing, it was an improvement but I wouldn’t go out the way and say that’s the way to go.

Whiskey drinkers rejoice! Okay, and people who like to sneak an ice cube in a glass of red wine. Yes, you read that right. And yes, I do. Back to ice balls. These are excellent ice makers. My friend and I gave them a go the other night while drinking...wine. Whatever. The balls were perfectly symmetrical spheres of cold joy. Unlike my friend, you need to follow the directions. There will be some overlap of the water, which will freeze, but will break away if, and only if, you follow the directions. Directions: break off the ice around the balls by twisting the silicon. Not hard. Balls pop out like an olympic swimmer in too short shorts.What more is there to say other than they are a solid ice, easy to make, and easy to extract. They will give a sophisticated feel to any drink and can even be used to make a fantastic cold pack to massage tight muscles. I highly recommend this ice ball maker to anyone who wants a quality ball that's easy to make.

These little ice spheres are very cool indeed. First of all, from a technical sense, a spherical ice "cube" is the best, as it melts much slower than normal square edge type ice cubes. So it will keep your drink a little cooler, longer. But apart from the science, they just look cool. They claim that if you fill them with heated water, they will end up crystal clear...I have not tried that, but a partly cloudy sphere does not bother me.The only problem with the spherical ice maker is that in order to get a sphere, you must have a spherical top. So when you close the halves together, you job is to fill it. You have to make sure that you get a good seal when closing the halves together. You have to press around each sphere to make sure of that. And as for filling, I have two methods. You can turn the water on very low, and carefully position the hole at the top of each sphere directly under the faucet and allow the water to trickle in and fill it, before moving on to the next spherical cavity.My second technique is to use a GLASS BASTER to fill each cavity. You can insert the baster into each hole, and fill them up rather easily. The point is that making spherical ice is a bit more work than filling an ice tray, but you get a product that is much cooler, so to speak, then any other ice shape that you can think of. So if you are willing to do the time, you will impress your friends...and if not your friends...at least yourself!Now then....so you have one device which will generate 4 spheres....you better have space in your freezer for some inventory. Because 4 spheres will get used rather quickly. So be prepared to make this kind of your job. Every day make some ice, and put it in a different part of your freezer in some container.Last point...You will inevitably spill water that does not go into the hole at the top of each sphere. This is not really a problem, but you will make unintended ice shapes to the extent that the top of device will be filled to some degree with spilled water. Not a problem for me....I use these just the same.So why only 4 stars? Because as much as I love the spheres, and I do, it's kind of a pain to make...so the 4 stars are not related to the device as much as they are to the process you have to go through to make them.
