Hawkins Contura 3 Liters Hard Anodized Pressure Cooker

I love this little pressure cooker, which I've now had for 5 trouble-free years! I wanted a smaller pressure cooker than American stores generally carry, as it's just the two of us; but I also wanted to be able to cook enough to have a manageable amount of planned leftovers, so I went with the larger of two sizes which Hawkins recommended for 2 people. This fits the bill quite nicely. The pressure regulator is the rocker/whistle type, and lets out steam in bursts, which might take a little getting used to, but works extremely well. Due to the lip (which is what allows them to make such a small, light pressure cooker) you will need to use a ladle to dish out food cooked in it, but I haven't ever found that to be a hardship in any way, as that is what I would normally do anyway. As long as you've ladled out the food, there's unlikely to be food accumulated under the lip, and the anodized aluminium has always cleaned up very easily anyway. It also looks sharp; the lid lock mechanism is ingenious, and easy to master with the barest minimum of practice, and this size is much easier to store than my old pressure cookers were. I love that parts are cheap, and most problems can be fixed yourself. The longer I have it, the more I appreciate how easy it is to use (even on my glasstop stove), and how efficiently it cooks. I continue to be impressed with Hawkins' thoughtful design and safety features. It is so much easier to put the lid on their pressure cookers than conventional ones because the oval lid sits inside the opening of the pot, held in place by shape, size, and leverage of the handle, and there are no heavy, clunky lugs which necessitate strong arming the lid into place, which makes it nigh onto impossible to blow the top off. Their shielding the safety valve, which would melt open should the pot boil dry and become too hot, would prevent food from spewing out in a fountain if that happened. (If you cook moong dal, you'll want at least the 3.5L size.)

Initially I was not sure whether I should buy 3 liters or 4 liters or 5 liters pressure cooker; and also whether I should go for Prestige or Presto pressure cooker? And also I was confused with stainless steel or Anodized type pressure cooker or aluminum cheap old traditional one? After detailed research, I purchased this pressure cooker. Lot of times I cook vegetables and rice and Dal (corns and other hard beans etc.) due to my vegetarian habits, and I feel this cooker is very useful and effective with a timely efficient cooking for my personal use. Since I cannot spend more time for cooking due to my Ph.D. studies, I feel happy with this cooker since I can save my time. I can use it as a frying pan as well. Pros: Efficient cooking with less time which is the advantage of taking 3 liters size pressure cooker. Anodized metallic style makes cleaning the cooker at very ease. Cute and latest design. Can use it also as a nice frying pan, and use it initially as a frying pan and later on make good sambar or rasam or nice cauliflower or cabbage curry. Cons: Good for two people and for more than two people probably size becomes small unless you want to use it as a nice additional cooker. Pouring directly from the cooker to your plate for the left-over cooked stuff becomes a little difficult due to the edge designing but I don't think it is a con to be considered that important. You cannot have separate cups within the cooker to cook rice and vegetables in two different dishes due to its small size, but as I am specifically looking for a small size cooker so that I can use it for frying pan and saving time while cooking as well as efficient stylish cooker easy to clean, this suited my needs perfectly. I highly recommend it if you are happy with a less-size cooker with the above qualities. Enjoy the delicious food!

This is my 3rd Pressure cooker. I have a Hawkins 1.5 L little aluminum thang that is great for a quick cook of veggies or smaller amounts of food, and I have an Ultrex that is built like a large Chicken Fryer pan..flat, not saucepan shaped as is usual. This was my middle choice, not large, not small. The perfect size for a 2-person meal. The mechanics are very simple, an oval opening that allows the lid to lock on from the inside of the pan, and an automatic steam release that doesn't use weights. It is complete with the lid, base and rubber ring. No weights to lose. The interior is non-stick. Love it. The price is decent, the build is excellent, the design is well done and it works great. There's a million recipes on the web for you, and I predict you'll be using this little baby often.

enough for meal for 3-4 people. good quality. delivered on time. wish the lid was also anodized.but works fine for me.

Bought at beginning of Jan 2013. Return/exchange policy covers only about one month. Today, two months since purchase, the defective safety valve suddenly failed, and through the hole on it boiling soup came out. Thankfully, nobody got hurt but someone could have. We have been using this kind of pressure cooker for over six years without problems, so we are familiar with the product. Either the pressure cooker we got was a uniquely defective product or there is a problem with a particular series.

Was a little fearful at first-but-no problem-this is easy to use. I am having the best time preparing meals for myself that I have stayed away from because of time involvement for one person.today made a pork roast with onions and carrots,garlic granules-in 45 min had a almost 2 lb delicious best ever tasting roast done with the liquid extremely tasty for gravy-followed with making potatoes for mash- in 10 min-in less than 2 hours i was sitting down to incredibly full of taste meal. have made long cooking rice,in a short time with rice nice and fluffy,chicken, veggies,I am going to attempt a soup soon. It cleans up easily. works great on smooth surface stove.easy to use.cannot say enough good things about it. see from reviews they last a long time too.It has saved time in making my own wet food for my dogs, like knowing the nutrients are still intact.cooking is fun again.

Hawkins pressure cookers are safe, light and inexpensive way to enjoy energy conservation and time saving cooking method. The one pressure weight makes lots of sound when releasing pressure so you will not forget it on the stove, and cooks at about 15psi for saving 2/3 the time and energy required for open cooking methods. Large steam port for safety does not clog with a bit of foam, this is my favorite of 3 different pressure cookers. It is used most days.

Product is very good but one doubt is there ,why it's handle heats up this much ,its very difficult to put it down after cooking food .

I got A reasonable deal to buy this awesome product. 1. Hard anodized cooker help you clean it properly without fear of damaging any coating. 2. It can absorb heat faster than regular aluminum pressure cooker and will last over years without any damage in look. 3. Apple like shape makes it easy to look inside content, cleaning, handling and get the food out at your ease. 4. Three liter volume is perfect for upto 4 members family. 5. A cooking manual is included which is too helpful for cooking various recipes like, pulav, fried rice, chicken preparation and many more. 6. You can get very rare appreciation from your wife. :D ( only for married males ) In a word one can rely on Hawkins contura pressure cooker closing your eyes.

As expected, Hawkins dont disappoint you. Value For Money. The Size is Perfect as is described and the quality is much better compared to other companies.
