How does this compare to the Barge all purpose cement? I see that this version is clear, does it have the same foam friendly adhering properties?

Hi, This stuff works just about exactly the same as the regular barge cement. It is just a toluene free version of the same thing. It should work just fine on most things, as long as the cement can bond with the fibers of whatever you are gluing together it should hold nice and strong. I hope that info is helpful. Is it required to use the thinner or can this be used without it? Also, it says clear, does that mean that this adhesive dries clear?

Yes, it is clear and dries clear. You only need the thinner if it starts to thicken up which happens when you have a lid off frequently. I usually pour it into a smaller glue pot which I refill when needed but that prevents the large can of cement from drying out and thickening up.

Is there a smell to this product? can it be used indoors? what is the voc?

Yes, strong smell and lots of warnings on can. VOC 697 G/L but it bonds leather and rubber well.
