They come with extender nuts to fit on the end of the axle. The brackets only fit when the extenders are installed. The thread pitch on the extenders is 10mm x 1.0. The threads on the axle are 3/8"-24 fine thread. The extenders will not fit the bikes axle! I believe most kids bikes are the 3/8" thread. I am a mechanic, so I already have a 3/8"- 24 tap. I tapped the threads on the extender to fit the bikes axle. I did have to go to the hardware store to buy (2) 10mm x 1.0 nuts. I also had to trim a bit off the left hand bracket to clear the mounting tab for the coaster brake. If you are considering this set, it might be worth it to pick up a 10mm x 1.0 nut to try on your bike axle first. If it fits, you're good to go. If not, you will also need to buy a 3/8" -24 tap to use these.
