Great Product and Price
This adapter is a fantastic product, offering excellent value for the price. It worked flawlessly, allowing me to easily access data from my older hard drives, which was exactly what I needed. The inclusion of the external power adapter proved to be a real lifesaver, and I was very pleased with the price, which was significantly more reasonable than other similar options I had considered. I would highly recommend this adapter to anyone in search of a straightforward and efficient solution for connecting older storage devices.

Highly recommended for its functionality and ease of use.
I recently bought the AGPTEKยฎ SATA/PATA/IDE Drive to USB 2.0 Adapter Converter Cable, and it works flawlessly. The adapter is straightforward to use, allowing me to connect various hard drives and SSDs to my computer via USB. It supports both SATA and IDE drives, which is incredibly versatile for data transfers or accessing old drives. The build quality is solid, and the connection is stable, ensuring reliable performance. Itโs a practical tool for anyone needing to bridge different types of drives with modern USB interfaces.

Takes Patience
Like most people, I too was frustrated with this device when trying to read an old IDE drive. I set the drive jumpers to "Master", plugged it in to power (heard the drive spin up), then connected the USB device. Nothing. I kept trying different things (e.g., changing the order I did things, drive jumper settings, etc.) all with no success. At one point, the drive heads kept slamming inside the HDD, and I powered it down. Then I resorted to the internet and found nothing useful. Feeling like I wasted my money, I went back and read a review from a previous purchaser. He stated that he had problems too at first until he rebooted his computer. So I restarted mine. At first there was nothing. Then I plugged the USB adapter back into my computer and I heard a "ding". I searched my computer for the new drive and nothing appeared. I unplugged the device and I heard the ding again, and I saw an icon in my tray disappear. Knowing it was seeing the drive I plugged it back in and heard the ding again. Using my old skills, I typed the "diskmgmt.msc" into the search bar. The drive was listed, but this drive had been wiped, so it had no data. Using the program, I was able to format the drive and put it into service. Even though the device is cheaply made, and has poor instructions, it is a functional unit for my intended use. It takes a user a little patience and not giving up too quickly in order to get it to work. My guess is that it will be even simpler to use on the SATA drives. Hope this helps.

An excellent device for transfering files from an old drive to a new one
I got this for a couple of drives that were IDE and needed to ensure stuff on them was pulled off as far as audio work and whatever else may have been on them after retiring an old Windows XP box last year. This will do SATA as well, and in a pinch, with an adapter will do M.2 form factor drives as needed. That is, get the adapter that goes from SATA/NVMe M.2 to SATA 2.5". This will also work with the larger 3.5" drives and adds a power supply to power them with a Molex connector or SATA power connector, depending on IDE or SATA, thus it's rather versatile. Worked well on the 2, or 3 IDE drives I had to go through and seems decently made.

Works perfectly. Does exactly what it is supposed to do.
After reading some of the negative comments about drives damaged by this product, I was careful to take extra precautions using this product for the first time. I first connect the power supply to 120 Vac with nothing connected to the output and verified that the power supply did not buzz, spark, or get hot. I then used my digital volt meter and measured the 5-Volt output between the black and red output wire as +5.15 Vdc and measured the 12-Volt output between the black and yellow wire as +12.34 Vdc. I also verified that the polarity was correct, with the negative volt meter lead on the black wire. Last, I unplugged the power supply, connected the power supply output to one of my hard drives that I could most afford to lose, and reconnecte AGPtek SATA/PATA/IDE Drive to USB 2.0 Adapter Converter Cable for Hard Drive Disk HDD 2.5" 3.5" with External AC Power Adapter AGPtek SATA/PATA/IDE Drive to USB 2.0 Adapter Converter Cable for Hard Drive Disk HDD 2.5" 3.5" with External AC Power Adapter d the power supply to 120 Vac. I could hear the hard drive quietly spin up. I used my hand to verify that the case of the hard drive was not getting hot to the touch. Convinced that the power supply was not going to โfry my driveโ, I unpowered the power supply, connected the USB cable to my PC, and reconnected that power supply to 120 Vac. I started my PC and went immediately to the Boot Menu [by pressing F12 on my PC] to direct the PC to boot off the USB port. The PC successfully booted up from my external hard drive and operated as expected.

Great service from Amazon but two times is enough....
I gave this one a try even though there were a few bad reviews, but Amazon was AWESOME with getting me a new one the next day since I got the first one, the power connectors that hook up to the disk drive, and the part to the power cord would not click in and so it wouldn't work...MUCH TO MY PLEASANT SURPRISE, I just put in a return request yesterday and today I got a new one from AMAZON. I thought maybe the mostly good reviews would be my experience, that I just got a bad one the first time, sort of like other things I have bought but they always got me something to replace very quickly, why i Love Amazon. SADLY, and so disappointed that the second one/s clips/connectors that wouldn't click in for the power cord to the power adapter for disk, but the green light just flashed and never stopped, not sure but I think maybe the power is the issue and maybe it takes more power or something as the power seems to be the issues with this item...not sure how others got it to work, but for me, maybe I will get one of the ones that are USB 3.0, even though this one says it works with the 2.0 USB, just don't know why the issues with the power on this one. I hope if you get this item, it works for you, and I am not a clueless one when it comes to computers and have built three of them so far, and no problems as I bought some of the items on Amazon after building grandson a nice gaming computer, and used his HD for it, and so switching things around, his old computer mine, wit new hard drive and fan, and my old one for granddaughter with new dvd player from Amazon...so I have no complaint with Amazon or most of the items I do research them and read comments. Some had commented on how it had glue visually on the cords...well that was true, and sorta scarey for me to plug it in, but I thought surely, they would not put some glue on there that would cause problems or catch fire. I really hope my next IDE/SATA adapter works great , so now am shopping for a better version of this one...this one was a risk taker for me, most times it's no problem, but this time...no deal.

Probably not the best example of this kind of product
I picked up this item mainly for one reason, I wanted a small external power supply that could power up internal floppy and hard drives when they were being used externally, specifically, on older systems that couldn't provide power to them directly. For that, the power supply works as expected. You'll get 12v and 5v out at up to 2000mA. Some other reviews and now I all agree, this would have been better if the power supply had come with a standard connector on it and not this custom connector/cable pair that will eventually break. Not a huge deal for me though, if the custom connector breaks or I lose the custom cable that came with it, I'll just cut off their connector and attach my own. I might just do that soon anyway so as not to have to deal with it. My 2nd pet peeve is the in-line power switch. It suggests you can turn on/off the supply of power to devices, but in reality, this does not work as expected. The switch does work on the 12v rail and 3.5" HDDs will power off with the switch, but it does NOT control the 5v line, so 2.5" HDDs, floppy drives (including gotek emulators), etc. will not get switched off by the in-line power switch. If you NEED that function, this item isn't for you. Now that aside, this product also comes with a bundled SATA/PATA (IDE) USB adapter so you can access internal drives externally, over USB. Mine does not work, or at least, it does not work with Windows 11. It just returns the error "Unknown USB Device (Device Descriptor Request Failed)" and will not load drivers for it, not even manually. I'm trying access some 2.5" IDE drives and this is getting my no-where, so now I'll have to find another way. Pretty disappointing, really. There are probably better versions of this on Amazon.

Easy to use and does the job perfectly
Did exactly what it says and I wanted. I had a very old dead laptop which had documents and photos I wanted and using this I was able to transfer them over to my new laptop. Very simple to use too
