I read through the 1st book so fast, I didn't stop to write a review before I started the 2nd book. And the 2nd book was so good I did write a review but I fat-thumbed something and whatever I wrote there, didn't submit.The 1st book, I was very interested in the story, so interested I didn't even mind the Stockholm syndrome attempts, and by the 2nd book, I was acutely aware of the psychological aspects of Sheppard and Claire's relationship. The 2nd book, and for the most part, the 3rd book, both spoke to an intellectual need. The vocabulary alone got me excited, but also, the way the author wove the deceit of each character, dissected their internal struggles makes me think this author would be good in politics... I am also very thankful the author didn't really delve into Svana's perceptions or motivations. That character is truly repulsive (which was very critical to the plot, but still... She's just Ugh).And then the last 20 pages: I was not ready to have my heart ripped out, thanks so much!BOOK 4 HERE I COME! Please don't break my heart again, I beg.

I loved this one the most out of all them so far. I read it in a day. Great action and bringing together of enemies to lovers

And then everything changed and now I am going to get the next book because this ending left me needing to know! Genius!!!

I think a good writer compels the reader to see the story through regardless of the differences between the reader's thoughts and the writer. This whole series does that. I hadn't left a review because..well I can't say I LIKE the books, but I'm sure wanting to know what happens next. So much so that I spent the $$ instead of choosing something on KU. I have a habit of reading the last few pages as I begin the book ( gasps!! I know ) and I couldn't wait to see how the characters got there. I actually love Sheppard. He may be one of the most purest loves I've ever read. He loves faulty or does he?? Is really pure in his being though and I appreciate that. Claire, well Claire loves through more conventional ways and together they work.I'm looking forward to the rest of the series.Read the triggers. I know some have mentioned they were in tears, and enjoy!

i’ll admit, it’s been a long time coming. it was a bit of a struggle through the first book, the second much easier, but this one? a masterpiece. easily in my top 10 books, maybe my top 5. throughout the series so far my own loyalties to each side has shifted so much that i didn’t even realize who i was cheering for anymore.—SEMI SPOILER—the ending really had me believing it was just that-the end. but everything feels like it perfectly wraps up in a completely unexpected way. i found myself crying before i even realized it-multiple times towards the last few pages i might add. shepards letter? oh my lord im going to cry again just thinking about it. i’m so pleased to see the end of the epilogue, now knowing it’s exactly shepherd and claire im rooting for. but who knows!! Addison has a way of changing my mind every other chapter so i guess we’ll see.

I loved all 3. At first I won’t lie I did not like Shepard that much and it was annoying at times but by the second book I started to understand him more as did Claire. Now on to the third book I was page gripping well screen gripping. There’s was so many steamy scenes and so many action that I couldn’t put it down. Books like this don’t usually make me emotional but this author played with my heart and next thing I know I need some damn tissue because she played me that well! The only thing I hated was at the end it gave you a snippet for book 4. STATING that Claire and Shepard’s story would continue and only after spending 6.99 on this book did I realize that was false and it started a whole new story with different characters!?! Where is there new home? Does Corday come to find her and realize she never died? I mean I have so many questions!!!! I have so many questions that won’t get answered and I am way to invested for that! What the hell!!!!!!!

A sickeningly disturbing dark twisted romantic read, the absolute destruction and chaos in this series was intense and shocking though the writing and wicked theme was addicting. The story takes place right after Shepherd has reclaimed his escaped mate Claire, the mental war games between them commence as the political world of Tholos crumples under the hands of a deceiver.Shepherd is determined to love his mate by any means necessary, no matter the cost, willing to grovel and apologize for his betrayal though still unable to let go of a destructive first love. Though warped and twisted as Shepherd’s thinking is he truly believes he’s doing it all in the name for love, no matter how misguided. Shepherd’s selfless dedication to protect his own no matter the consequences was appealing, compared to his other horrible offenses.Claire has endured horrors at the hands of others, past the breaking point of sanity and never loses sight of herself and conviction is so admirable. The crimes and atrocities Claire was forced into are appalling and unforgivable, always being treated as an object yet so willing to give love and hope that the world can be better, choose better is naively innocent.The romance between Shepherd and Claire is so twistedly distorted and abusive it’s barbaric, the dominance and submission coming to a bittersweet conclusion.The supporting characters are all just as damaged with their own personal agendas no matter how it’s crafted to seem kind and supportive with the one clueless gullible character who wears their heart on their sleeve in the most tragic manner.
