Very Nice
I purchased this reel a few years ago and decided to write a review. I had a Zebco 33 for about 20 years and loved it. It finally imploded reeling in a big pike. I went out and got a 33 Classic. What a horrible reel! Nothing like the original Made in USA Zebco. I threw it in the trash. So after looking around I decided to go for the Omega. I am very happy with the purchase as I think it is better than my old 33. I like spincast reels for finesse fishing with plastics as I can finger the line as I retrieve and feel light bites (mostly smallmouth). My son says it is a "kiddie" reel. I beg to differ. The casting is great, the reel is very smooth and I feel the lightest bites paired with a Berkeley Lightning rod, 6.5 foot medium rod. I plan to upgrade to a St.Croix Mojo. I just really like the feel of working a worm or tube jig with this setup. I've fished it Carolina, drop shot,Texas and everything in between. The line it came with was not that great (Cajun stuff). Used it for a couple trips and then replaced it. I had to experiment a bit to find the best for me. Trilene XL 10lb worked OK. Recently I switched to KastKings Master mono. It performs flawlessly with this reel. Ande works pretty good too. Using a better mono is worth it. Casts and handles great. I really like the KastKing line and will probably stick with it. I have not tried any braid. I use an 8lb Seageur Flouro leader (Blue) most of the time. So, the reel has also held up great as I've used it 3 seasons now and think I'll get 20+ years out of it like my old 33.

Very well built and not your typical spincast
Like a lot of kids, I grew up using spincast reels, like Johnson Century, Shakespeare 1767 & 1766, and Zebco. As I got older though, I branched out to spinning and casting reels. Casting reels are great except for super light lures, especially in wind, and I just don't care for spinning reels. So now that my kids are old enough to fish, my wife and I began taking them fishing but the wife and kids don't have the patience for learning how to use a casting reel. So I wanted some new spincast reels that were of better quality than the old beat-up spincasts I had lying around and could be something they use for many years. After several hours of research I decided to try the Omega ZO3 and ZO2 and I could not be happier with their performance and build quality.I removed the canjun line they came with and put some 6lb Trilene XL on the ZO2 and 10lb Trilene XL on the ZO3, then oiled the bearings with TSI-321 and used some Shimano grease on the gears. I am able to cast further than my casting reels with light lures and come fairly close to the casting reels with heavier lures. Plus, with the lighter lures, I have no worries of backlash with the Omega reels. After several dozen trips to the lake and many, large bass, crappie, & bluegill, I could not be happier. They are certainly a little pricey compared to the cheaper spincasts, but these are NOT cheap spincasts. And the smiles on my daughters face after reeling in and then releasing a fish, is more than worth it.Plus, with a little care on my part with cleaning and lubricating, I see no reason why these can't last decades.

Pretty impressive
I have been fishing with Zebco products since the mid 1970s when these reels were made in the USA and lasted a life time. Now, they r made in China and last not very long at all. Back in the middle 90s I purchased Zebco 33 Classics and they r still in use today, but I recently purchased some 33 classics and was disappointed. So, I had to move up in price to the Omega Z03Minus the 7 BB, this is what the Zebco 33 used to be as far as quality. The reel does do cast and retrieve nicely and the BB makes the retrieve fairly smooth. This reel has made it through one fishing season so far, and the biggest fish has been a lot of slab crappie and several striper bass, but nothing big so far, the striper were in the 20 inch range. The reel does OK with a deep water lure on it, but you can tell that it is not made for that type of fishing, it is the wrong tool for lure fishing, but it will work. The reason for the 4 stars is the price, it is over priced.Update May 2012Still using the reel with no problems. I still think it is over priced.

This is THE Best Spincast Reel
You can't beat the Zebco Omega if you're looking for a spincast reel. It is made almost entirely of high quality, metal parts so it's only drawback is that it is a bit on the heavy side. I don't mind the weight because with it, you get quality you can both see and feel. The smoothness and quietness of the 6 bearings is unmatched by any other spincast reel I've ever used and the drag is simple to operate allowing for both a wide and granular adjustment. I was shocked at how far I could cast with it (must be the ceramic pins). I used it lake fishing my first time out (after putting new 6 lb. Trilene line on it) and was easily outcasting my brother in-law who was using a spinning reel.At first I thought the price was a bit high for a spincast but the oscillating spool and quick-spool-change-out system make this reel worth every penny. These features, along with its superior casting performance make it every bit as good as a standard spinning reel with less maintenance. It is as easy to change out the spool on the Zebco Omega as any standard spinning reel. It comes with a spare spool out of the box and I found a couple of online stores that sell spare spools for about $5 each (shipping not included); thus, this reel could really take a workout on a marathon fishing trip.I have also tried the Diawa Goldcast and, as far as I am concerned, there simply is no better spincast reel on the market. If you want the best product that will last you forever, buy the Zebco Omega.

Great product with one exception
The best spin cast reel on the market. I own four and may buy another. The handle may come unscrewed during use however. I suggest you apply blue Loctite before you use it the first time. My handle came off during use and became mangled and bent. I will need to buy a replacement part.

Great for the occasional bass fisherman. Always works, low maintenance.
Since I only fish a few times a year, I need a reel that's ready to go without a lot of maintenance and advance preparation. That's why I gave up on high-maintenance baitcast reels years ago. I tried several types and brands of spincast reels over the last decade, and most of them were junk. Then, a friend recommended this reel. Although I was down on Zebco due to a couple of them that I bought recently that were low quality*, I bought an Omega Z03 anyway due to my friend's recommendation. I found this reel to be reliable and virtually hiccup free. I have not had a single fishing trip ruined due to this reel not working correctly. It handles higher test line and always works. I have thrown out my Shakespeares and other recent Zebco reels and only use the Z03 now (this is my second one). My respect for Zebco is restored.* Note: I loved my Zebco 33s that I bought in the 70s and still use them some to this day. The 33s I bought a few years ago are cheap junk. One broke the first day I fished with it. The ones I still have from the 70s still work well and the more recent ones are in the landfill somewhere. The high quality of the Omega Z03 reminds me of the 33s from the 70s.

Zebco poor quality
This product is a poor quality and is not fit for purpose every second time you press the cast button it releases the line before you release the cast button. Very frustrating to use. I would not recommend the reels. I bought two different models and both do exactly the same thing. It’s not like they were daily cheap either.

さすがUSAのリールと思いきや、メイドインチャイナだったので少しがっかり。まだ実釣してないけど、重くて頑丈そうです。重いけどロッドに装着した時の バランスはあいそうです。期待をこめて☆4ヶです。

zebco omega pro, zebco omega z03, zebco 33 all metal
Bought this reel and just awesome responsive reel. I like it so much I got another one the next day. The reel is very smooth, casts great and the drag is perfect... I mainly use shimano calcuta baitcast reeels but this reel is a pleasure to use. All metal construction and comes with an extra spool. I can't wait to use it on the lake.... Initially purchased for my 6 year old son as my stuff is too long and heavy and hard to use... But after playing with it I purchased 3 more of the zebco reels. 22
