I bought an in-line fuel filter for in between the petcock and carburetor and it is clean so I can see the fuel pass through. It's nice and clean! I took the Metal Rescue that I had drained from the tank and dropped in an old rusted monkey wrench that was frozen solid along with pair of piiars that were frozen/rusted tight. I checked them the next afternoon and they worked just fine as well. The information on the label says it will dissolve up to 1/2 pound of rust. I believe it. I'm also surprised how far 1 gallon will go. I would highly recommend this to someone. The cost difference varies from place to place. On Amazon this product is between $3-10.00 more than E.R. It also comes in a 3-gallon container with a dipping basket, which is very handy. I use gloves, but you can dip your hand in or scrub the object right in the solution. E.R. can be reused over and over and I've had the same 3 gallons for 3 years! I restore metal woodworking tools on an average of 3-4 tools/day. Now that longevity!! I would recommend getting E.R. in the 3-gallon container if you can afford it, and you plan to use it often enough to justify the price of $35-$55.00. And no I don't work for E.R., lol. Good luck. **Q: wanting to put in a tank on a 87 jag without taking off the tank will this stuff in a closed gas tank if i let it set for a day or too?** A: The directions say not to let parts soak for more than 24 hours at a time. With that said, assuming you fill the tank enough to soak all of the rusted areas AND do the treatment with an ambient temperature of at least 68° (above 75° works faster) it will work. If it's heavily rusted you may need to treat it multiple times. As far as not taking the tank of, so long as you can drain all of the rust remover and the water that is used to deactivate it you'll be good to go (ensure you flush the tank with gasoline at the end). **Q: will this work on fire scale and boric acid residue?** A: Metal Rescue only works on iron and steel. If you're talking about iron or steel items that have been exposed to high temperatures or a flame then yes Metal Rescue will dissolve the rust on the surface but it can't do anything about pitting, etching or other surface damage caused by the heat. Any other metal like silver, brass, gold etc Metal Rescue will not have any affect on. Boric acid such as flux? I doubt it would help at all. **Q: would this work on badly rusted swords from 50+ years ago?** A: I guess that would depend on how heavily rusted it is....But this stuff WORKS! I've used it on rusty car and motorcycle parts, and it too the rust off. You'll need enough to cover the sword and let it soak, but in my experience....This stuff is great! I just wish they made it in a gel or something to use on surfaces you can't actually soak. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Great product it does work! *by W***F on September 30, 2013* I used this product for two different things, first I tested this on a speaker bracket I found in a junkyard that was lightly rusted put it in something and covered it up after submerging it in metal rescue three hours later perfectly looking brand new! I washed it off dried and painted like a brand new product!. Second thing I used it for is the cooling system in my 87 camaro. The car sat up for 12 years and the cooling system was just full of rust, the motor is from an 76 camaro which you can imagine the amount of that that must have accumulated, after flushing with water around 10 times running the car and doing it again I was getting no where, bought this filled up the system ran it to get the tempt up and had the car sit for 2 days drained it out and flushed it two more times to get the product out the system. Crystal clear where before it was so murky with rust it looked like mud in the cooling system. Worked great! After 3 months I'm getting a little residual rust like flakes at the top but still crystal clear water and antifreeze mix!
