What a difference to go from AV inputs to HDMI. The scaling is amazing on my QLED TV. Worth every penny!

The Sega Genesis, like all Sega consoles, has a RGB output that us Americans really can't take advantage of without some high end equipment - but this cable converts that to a modern HDMI signal and the results are fantastic with no lag that I can notice. I tried out Ghouls 'n Ghosts, a game I've played hundreds of times on a CRT, and results are fantastic - everything felt exactly how I expected, yet it looked like I was playing a emulator as the graphics were so crisp. I used this with a Sega Nomad, which is based on the model 2 Genesis, and on battery I had no issues with signal drops or anything. In the box you also get a model 1 converter. I'm really impressed by this - I've never used or even seen the RGB out on the Genesis, and it's great. Make sure you have gaming mode on your TV, or better use a gaming low latency monitor for best results. Also with these cables on other devices I've seen people complain about dark images - well no issue here, with my default settings left in place on my monitor the image looked great. Another thing I've seen with other cables is people saying the image contrast was too high and you'd lose image detail - and again, no issue here. Again, the best way to compare the video for those that haven't used RGB output on this system is that i looks like a good emulator in the best way possible, meaning zero lag, perfect picture quality, no noticeable video noise.

The media could not be loaded. ...and I love this a LOT better! I bought a Framemeister for all of my older consoles, and particularly for my Sega Genesis. Glad I got this! I started it up and was shocked at the difference. Although the Framemeister allows you to do just about anything, all of my attempts at tweaking it, as well as trying someone else's settings, yielded me an image that not only pulsated, but the picture was not clear UPDATE: I've since resolved this, but still have a slight pulsating on the screen). I tried this on Sonic, Madden 92, and Fifa 95. I've uploaded a video to show you what this looked like on my Sony Bravia 32" LED TV while playing Fifa 95 (sorry, cheat codes were enabled). The sound through the TV was good--good base tones, but what you are hearing is the sound coming through an old set of Boston Acoustic BA 35s. My guess is the sound is stereo.And the good thing about this device is that you just plug it into an HDMI slot, and that's it. There is no trying to adjust it to each console like with the Framemeister. Mind you, it requires a USB power source. Nonetheless, I HIGHLY recommend this device.

I’m giving this unit 5 stars because of the price quality and ease of use. The package is new as advertised, you get the adapter hdmi cable usb power adapter for plugging into your tv or a common cell phone charger power brick and a model 2 to model 1 plug adapter.All you do is hook it up to your console and tv, and it just works. The unit does have a 720p scaler in it and automatically defaults to a 4.3 aspect ratio so it’s viewed correctly on your newer tv. I used this unit on a model 2 genesis and I was supprised of the picture quality. As for lag latency I tested on a 2020 tc8000 Samsung 4K tv and it seemed to be fine little to no lag. I turned on my tv’s game mode option and it seems that the very miner lag is no longer there. There are videos on YouTube that goes in better details reviewing the unit and comparing this to the analogue mega sg console. From my observations about the pound cable it seems to work the best on the model 2 genesis but works for all 3 genesis. This is a 30 dollar unit compared to the mega sg for 180 to ridiculous prices on eBay. I recommend this product.

This plug N play solution is very impressive. Awesome picture and sound with an aspect ratio that looks really good on modern TV's. I've test this cable on a 4k OLED, 4K LCD, and a 1080P Plasma, all worked flawlessly. I also test several different models of Genesis. No problems with any console I tested.Be aware that model 1 Genesis do work with this cable, as it does come with a Model 1 to 2 AV adapter, however the AV plug in the back of model 1 Genesis only produce mono sound. Model 1 Genesis do support stereo sound but you will need a stereo patch cable that ties to the front headphone jack. Various sites sell such a cable and is a worthwhile purchase as Genesis model 1's are far superior to the model 2. It is a shame that the provided Model 1 cable did not have the headphone patch cable attached. This is the only reason for my 4 star rating. Had that been the case then a 5 stars rating for sure!All model 2 Genesis have stereo sound from the back port so no worries there other than the terrible audio and sometimes bad video that most versions of model 2's produce. The best Model 2 version is the VA4 and the only version I find acceptable without mods. Sadly this is a more rare version that was only made from 1996-1998. As for Genesis 3 I didn't test mine but I see no reason that it would not work also remember Genesis 3 only outputs mono sound.

I was absolutely blown away by the quality and function of this product when considering the sticker price. I honestly think there is no comparison with any other product that meets this price point and in my opinion it beats out a lot of the way more expensive options that are out there. Pulls RGB directly, I mean come on most of the others are all just composite upscalers and the flexibility of use is apparent when testing it with other game systems that have a din or mini din a/v out, for example the neo geo and turbo grafix 16. It is not advertised as being compatible but if the systems natively output rgb and have the right output port it seems to work perfectly, though not recommended by the company. I could not recommend this product more highly for anyone wanting to have a cheap and easy option to play on modern TVs and/or record video with a capture card. Pleasantly surprised and extremely satisfied with the money spent, a great buy!
