Gats Jar fuel testers are used to collect, pre flight inspection, fuel samples. It then separates any co-mingled fuel and water, by allowing only the fuel to be poured back into the tank through our special built-in filter which traps the water behind. This allows the fuel samples to be returned to the aircraft instead of being thrown on the ground. After the water is trapped in the container, and the fuel is back in the tank, the captured water can then be thrown on the ground without polluting the soil, and the ground water with leaded fuel.Studies indicate that over 3 million gallons of AVGAS gets poured on the ground in this country every year just by sampling fuel during pre flight inspections. This product is the only "environmentally responsible" fuel testeron the market. It also filters out particulate fuel contamination, and makes octane recognition simple and certain. Review: So good I got two, one maybe one day for my own helicopter :) - have to say a really good product, By using this to test fuel any crap or debris is kept in the jar for and prevented from entering the tank on pour back by the mesh screen. Just put your fuel tank flexi drain tube into the circular necked opening and hit your drain valve and it gets straight into the jar ahead of the filter screen section. you can clearly see exactly what was in your tank. It large enough to take a really good sample and see any water very clearly, some of the smaller screwdriver type checkers you couldn't even milk a gnat into, this is a large jar in a small package. I can take a good draw from both tanks on the R44 I fly with room to spare and clearly see any issues (none yet) and then simply pour back into the tank. There is only one improvement I think they could make and that is to provide a lid that goes over it when you are finished to prevent any dirt or dust from wherever you store the device getting in there. I've seen that on one in a machine I flew that first tempted me to buy one of these.
