Consider this first before buying a Win 10 or an Apple machine.
You do need a wifi connection to use this first time, as it took mine an hr to load all the updates. You also need a Googlemail account for each user you put on the machine. Its beautifully made, slim and light. It boots up in seconds. There is no cooling fan,so this is totally silent. My Google Play apps work well on this,so much so, I've removed them from my phone. The sound from the speakers is amazing. My Pamu Slide bluetooth earbuds paired straight away and work fine. I connected the Epson wf2510 printer via the usb, and it recognised it and worked without to download any drivers. It recognised a portable usb drive and was able to access the files on it. The cons are that, the keys are not back lit,and the power button is too close to the other keys for my liking, but these are minor issues. Its has a small memory compared to regular machines, but you are expected to save everything to the 'cloud',or just use a usb hard drive or stick. I would highly recommend it for the everyday user and student.

Fantastic chromebook
Bought for my 10 year old daughter who is doing her SATS, wanted a computer that could do the web and documents for school with no games for distraction. This fits the bill quite nicely and with the £100 off event was a total steal. It looses 1 star for its trackpad which could be better, don't get me wrong its still pretty good. Perfect for the use.

Really good for me 😃
I purchased this Chromebook as 'as new' from Amazon Warehouse, upon arrival it was pristine, no marks, scratches or any other blemishes of any description, so well done Amazon Warehouse. Delivery was prompt, packaging was good, so no complaints there. The Acer Chromebook does get to the login very quickly and to the home page quickly also, after using primarily Windows machines for many years this speed is welcome, only a high specification Windows machine would be equivalent, but at a very high cost and, from experience, with a far shorter battery life, which is something of an eye opener on a Chromebook, the battery, does seem to last a long time. All the apps I have on my android phone are also on the Chromebook, so there is a sense of familiarity and for my diary, mail, news and weather there is seamless integration. The use of the cloud to store more of my files is something of a culture shock, less on the machine, though yes I can get at things from any device, which is good. I can store things on the machine, though the file management is a little clunky, but might improve as I become more familiar. I have placed an Office app on the Chromebook, from the app store, which will let me work offline, with good utility, a sibling programme is now on my laptop PC, so file compatibility is no issue (it has .docx etc) very good for me, as I have purchased, and rented, MS Office/Works many times over the last four decades, something I am tired of! The only real downside of the machine is the lack of touchscreen, but one would have to pay for that. The screen itself is large and colourful (see pics straight on and from an angel) YouTube HD content plays very well, though I can only get Amazon Prime in SD format, not sure why. Overall, I am very happy with the Acer Chromebook, does what I need it to do.

Great value for money.
Bought this for my mum to replace her ailing tablet. It works well. The Chrome Operating System is simple to use. Performance is adequate - you can run YouTube on it without a problem. Sound quality is pretty good. Boot time is about 15-20 seconds, which is great. You can have multiple user accounts. WiFi reception is good. Battery life is adequate - I think probably about 5-6 hours of moderate use. Build quality is reasonable for the price. It's all most people need for day-to-day browsing and email etc. If I didn't use PhotoShop heavily, I think I could probably get by with one for myself as a primary machine.

Start up speed- unbeatable!
After Windows 10 (which badly crashed and is totally unusable after only a couple of years!), this format takes some getting used to. However start up and shut down speed is great and once I got the Office suite plumbed in all was fine. Some things a bit clunky, like scrolling through emails for example, but so far, so good. Update after a couple of months - I do miss some things. It's near impossible to scan documents from my wifi printer to the chromebook. Any suggestions online simply don't work. However the ability to quickly pick and start working and then put it down again without long drawn out start up and shut down is great. Overall good value for money but limited capabilities compared to the big guns (Windows/Mac).

Acer Chromebook No Ace
I don't know if my internet provider cut my speed down to dial up or if it's this particular chromebook but my speed now is less than my typing speed and I can't type. I had an HP chromebook for six years which suddenly went obsolete because Google isn't sure whether they have ALL the money yet so I was forced to upgrade. I went against my better judgment and went with this Acer. It hangs up at least three times daily and I have to restart. SO though I'm stuck with this one, and stuck is the word here, save yourself and try a different brand. Unless of course, the internet has slowed down to dial up speed all over, then, why bother? Buy cheap, you get cheap merchandise.

The price is right.
So far so good, for the price you can't go wrong, cheaper than a regular smartphone. I could mention a couple of niggles, but that would be a bit picky. I am 80yrs old and found setup a doddle. Pad is a bit sensitive for me so I bought a Bluetooth mouse. All in all very happy.
