After a YEAR of constant use, they still earn Five Stars!
I adopted my Maltese, Piper, as a seven year old breeder release from a puppy mill. She’s adorable and utterly sweet, and somewhat housetrained after two years of dedicated effort. But, she either can’t or won’t wait until I’m home from work to do her business when there’s business to be done. Given her history, it’s not a debate I’ll win. She has, however, graciously agreed to use puppy pads placed by the back door for her convenience. It’s a workable compromise! Yay!Piper is not exactly up on her spatial awareness techniques, so she requires ample room to assure that she hits the target. The best disposable pads I found in the size that works for her run about $36 for a 50-pack. For Piper, that averages to about one month's worth of pads. So, $432 annually. That’s… a lot of money for dog pee and poop management, along with a veritable mountain of yuck in the nearest landfill. (Bear in mind that most dogs housetrain just fine and don’t need an annual budget for this. My Chihuahua-mix, Teddy, insisted on being in the photo, but would absolutely die of embarrassment if he piddled in the house. He wanted you to know that.)After crunching the numbers a little over a year ago, I bought both the Happy Paw pads and another brand of washable pads through Amazon to see how they performed. The other brand’s pads are considerably larger (and correspondingly more expensive) and have a plastic backing, while the Happy Paw pads have a cloth backing.I used both brands together, since having one of each on the floor (slightly overlapped) gave Piper plenty of space to do her thing and made for a fair test of both products. She used them both equally, and preferred them to the disposable pads which are so much thinner. My expectation was that the larger pads would work best for Piper’s needs. However, constant washing (three or four times a week) really started to take a toll on the backing over time until there were dozens of small splits that have finally begun to allow some of the wet to leak through. I also noticed that the plastic backed pads tended to bunch up and created a tripping hazard while the Happy Paws pads stayed nice and flat. I can open the back door with enough clearance over the Happy Paws pads, but not the other brand. To be honest, both pads are great as far as saving money. The Happy Paws cost $23 while the other brand cost $35, for a combined expenditure of $58. Even though the larger ones wore out, they still held up for about a year. That’s a cumulative savings of $374 in puppy pads last year! Yes, there’s time and expenditure for washing them, but if you have a washing machine, it's still a very significant saving!Best yet, the Happy Paws pads show absolutely no signs of wear or tear. Although I considered replacing the larger pads, I decided to buy a second pack of the Happy Paws to add to the rotation instead, and so far that seems to be working out fine. I’ll add a photo of an old and new one together. Good luck telling which one is which!A few pros and cons:PROS:- They’re extremely durable and hold up to lots and lots and LOTS of washing.- They’re absorbent enough to accommodate a 20 lb. Maltese’s extracurricular potty activities.- They pay for themselves very quickly in comparison to disposable pads.- No stinky garbage cans or landfill burden.- Did I mention they’re durable?CONS- As has been mentioned in other reviews, the color and pattern can make it hard to see if they’ve been used. Inspecting under bright light helps.- They require washing, so more labor intensive than disposable.- If you have a larger dog or one with poor aim, you’d be well advised to put multiple pads down, and overlap them a bit. Piper tends to need two. If Happy Paws came in a larger size, I’d definitely buy them!- I can’t vouch for how much moisture these pads will hold for a larger dog. I haven’t discovered any leakage in over a year of constant use, but I’ll stop short of saying they won’t leak under enough load. Of course, that applies to all puppy pads.- Since they don’t have a plastic or rubber backing, they can slide around a bit.In summation, the Happy Paws pads work! They last a long time, they hold up to washing like a champ, and if you need puppy pads over the long term, they will absolutely save you money!

Great product
I first ordered Potty Buddy training pads and I really liked them. My puppies just tear apart the disposable paper pads. I saw these on Amazon for a better price so I tried them and they are as good as the pricier pad. I simply throw in the washer for a quick wash and air dry and I'm good to go. With cold weather coming or rainy days I wanted to train them on pads in the house as an option. I put them down where they typically had accidents so it seemed to be logical that they go there, plus I hated all the trash from paper pads which I always used in the past with my yorkies...they were not chewers like these new pups.

Great Solution & Pup isn’t Destroying it!
11/25/20Ok, so we are about a week into using our 1st pad. I can say after first washing I am presently surprised. Followed instructions for washing (no softener & then I time tumbled dried on extra low for 20min)! It came out great!New puppy is having a rough go with crate training & we had to switch to the pen. But when we used the pen he started destroying the disposable pee pads. Even with apple Bitter Spray...Major separation anxiety. ;(I was hopeful that this would be a better buffer & is more eco friendly. Since we moved the pen to a carpeted area (not hard wood/tile/linoleum) I didn’t trust THIS pad. As a precaution I put disposable pad underneath.GOOD NEWS- it never leaked through onto pad underneath! Held up well right out of the package.*Message To Manufactures*: As someone else suggested I too agree...PLEASE make this in a different color!! It is VERY hard to see where and if our pups Pee’d On the pad w/o touching or smelling. That’s my only CON thus far. I added a few photos for you to see the color of the pad. Pictured next to my sand/tan couch, and gray sheet over it.I get that the color hides the appearance of the pee, but hard to know when to wash.I think I could have pulled this a couple days ago but I didn’t see a piddle mess.Today we only knew he wet overnight as he wet his little gray dog bed. Saturated the whole bed & went through to this pad, but never penetrated to bottom!!Demographics- 10 week old, 6lb, Cockapoo.I will provide update upon further ware & tear. I am thinking of buying MORE!

If you have wood floors I don't recommend.
The absorbency is fine. Leak proof it has like a felt backing. So I don't recommend using on wood floors. They are easy to clean as well as they are cute

Works great for performance artist cats!
If you have a cat who is a performance artist, you may find that wee wee pads around the litter box are the only way to prevent accidental over spray. My cat is a 20 year old love bug. But he can't pee downwards anymore, so things got interesting. I tried splash guards, shower curtains, bigger boxes, covered boxes....he defeated them all.He rolls into the box and, without squatting, let's 'er rip like he was putting out a forest fire right outside the box.I finally tried disposable dog pads, and while those worked, it got expensive. The washable pads are awesome. They have not leaked, but depending on the cat's power that day, he can overshoot, so I got the larger pads. They don't show that they have been peed on very clearly, so even if I'm not sure, I just take them up daily. Swap a new one in and wash the old one. They have stood up to multiple washes so far.Don't use softener. Don't let them sit before washing. You can machine dry them, but I usually let them air dry.

Thick, absorbent, nice design
I like everything about these puppy pads, so would recommend them without hesitation. The quality is very nice and the design (polka dots and bones) is cute. Initially I ordered one set (which contained two pads) and after seeing how great they were, I ordered two more sets. The pads are used for my older male chihuahua and he seems quite pleased with his potty pads. Thank you.

Good product
I like the product so far I have had it for a while. I tested the pee pad with a water when I first purchased and did not leak through. The only thing I would try to change with this product is the fact you can't see the pet urine other then that it washes well no problem,
