However looking at the manual, the HR model has both and a volume control (via the On Screen Display). I suspect it will play sound from the HDMI or the audio in connection when you use the VGA input **Q: How long is the power cable that is provided with the asus vp249hr 24 inch monitor? if it's under 2 meters, can an alternative power cable be used?** A: It's a power supply unit similar to a laptop PSU. There is a mains electricity cable leading to the unit which is maybe .5 metres and a much longer thin cable which plugs into the monitor. I would estimate that the total length is at least 2 metres. Mine came with a UK plug so I suppose it could be different in other countries.
