Not beer, but popsicles. And not the colored sugar variety, but the expensive, less sugary "healthy" type. Those tend to cost about 70¢ apiece and even the best brands still contain about 4 teaspoons of added sugar per popsicle.So we decided to make our own! We chose this set to purchase and the experience has been completely satisfying in every way. We usually use frozen fruit (and wait for it to go on sale) but we also throw in fresh fruit that is getting over-ripe... brown-ish bananas, soft-ish grapes and berries, etc. We add some greek yogurt and a bit of almond milk to make thing smoother. No added sugar!The cost for all these ingredients adds up to about 40¢ apiece... possibly more if more fresh fruit is used (but again, this is fruit that might not get eaten otherwise). The sticks and bags might add another nickel apiece.The taste is great – basically a frozen smoothie. Not as overly sweet as commercial popsicles, but sweet enough. The best part is that they're really satisfying... the commercial popsicles tend to leave me wanting more, like any sugary treat will do, but these will leave you feeling like you've had a fruit desert. A good comparison might be drinking a soda as opposed to a smoothie.The process is simple enough that it's fun and not a chore – that was something I was wary about, since we've bought devices to make bread, waffles, boiled eggs, fancy coffee, etc., and these often sit in the cupboard after the charm wears off. That's not the case here... in fact, I just finished making yet another batch after dinner.We use a Cuisinart food processor (because our blender broke) and it only takes minutes to puree the ingredients (any chunks only give the popsicles interesting chewy bits). I don't use the included funnel, but rather just use a tablespoon measure that works well with the rectangular openings. It takes a little bit of cleanup before putting on the top, but it's really not a chore.Everything in this kit seems to be great quality – the mold is substantial and sturdy, the sticks are smooth and perfect quality, and even the self-stick bags work well. We take the mold out of the freezer and let it sit for about 5 minutes or so. Then it's a pretty simple thing to push each pop out from the bottom... after they warm a little they release from the silicone with a firm push. Then it's into the bags and back into the freezer (we keep a few old commercial popsicle boxes just for storing our homemade pops).There's really no downside – it's fun, tasty, nutritious, and both cheaper and healthier than the commercial healthy brands. I honestly don't know why we waited so long to do this!Quick edit: the white color is great for checking the cleanliness. We’ve found it’s important to rinse the mold right after you use it... maybe even fill it with soapy water until you can wash it in the dishwasher. Otherwise, remnants of the fruit can remain and mold quickly, making it harder to clean than it needs to be.We’ve also ordered refill sticks and bags from this company and they’re top quality. It was amazing to see how fast we went through the 100 sticks that are included in the set... but that’s a sign of how easy and good the whole process is. If my per-pop calculations above are correct we’ve already saved enough to pay for the set, and that doesn’t even account for the better quality of homemade popsicles! ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Would buy again *by T***S on Reviewed in the United States on June 3, 2020* Pros: Very easy to clean and fill.Cons: not very sturdy. I would recommend putting something hard under it for stability. It is also hard to get the popsicles out.
